Weird "lights" over Norway today

Spotted all over the northern parts of Norway early this morning:

Quote:

A mysterious phenomenen of light on the nightsky shocked citizens of northern and mid-Norway on wednesday morning. It spun around and exploded in the sky.

It looked like it came over a mountain. First it followed a path, until it disintegrated. Then it suddenly became a huge sphere, so large that it covered the entire sky.

couple of vids here that are much better than the picture:

My guess is a russian rocket out of control but it lasted for 10-15 minutes so guess that would be weird to?

Phoenix 12-09-2009 06:13 AM

the russians are pretty anal...and perfectionists

the amount of weird stuff explained by out of control russian rockets is not a viable excuse they should come up with better ones...not saying this is anything controversial..it might have been a rocket...just that they give that excuse all the time...russians dont lose alot of multi million dollars things

when i was about 12 the entire town of sudbury saw some lights moving slowly across the sky...the whole town called the police and newspapers and the army...army guys called other army guys...everyone wanted to know what it was....russian rocket out of control that crashed in algonquin was the excuse....who knows..it was cool to see anyway

Waddymelon 12-09-2009 06:15 AM

Have you two guys seriously never heard of Aurora Borealis?

You know, the northern fucking lights?

BlackCrayon 12-09-2009 06:16 AM

it must be jesus

Looks like it was spinning in the vids.

Have you seen the northern lights and the videos I posted? Not close at all and the experts up here can't figure it out...

some points there, but the russians did warn about a rocket on navtex yesterday:

That is absolutely not it. The formation and movement of these lights are symmetrical and smooth.

Watch those videos again. Notices the odd swirling shape that looks like a galaxy. Then how it spreads out into a ring. Notice how it is ON the clouds and has no dimensional shape to it (it is flat). The big clue... Watch the video again and notice the shaft of light the starts at or toward the ground in a small diameter and fans out until it forms the supposed "phenomenon".

It is a hoax. Someone having some fun with some expensive projectors or laser machine, kind of like a Pink Floyd laser show.

PARTICULARLY this one: http://www.vgtv.no/?id=27559 The source of the light is clearly coming from the top of that hill or mountain.

i was thinking that as well...that is was a projection

blah, sick of all the 'fake' videos, someone needs to get some pics of some aliens asap

tranza 12-09-2009 07:16 AM

the only problem with that theory is that it was seen over an extremly large area. The northern parts of norway is huge and it was spotted from all over the place. It was seen from Trondheim to Kirkenes. Have a look at google maps and you'll see how large that area is...

http://www.geographicguide.net/europ...norway-map.jpg

No laser show covering that area...

What is not BS is Hubble's latest deep view infrared images, seen here. Ego aside (for a minute or so), I realize just how small we really are in the whole grand scheme of things. :)

Ummm, it is no theory. You can clearly see the projected light shooting out of the hill and onto the clouds in the video I quoted. You can also see that it is DEFINITELY being displayed on clouds. Depending on the cloud height, which does not look very high, the light could be seen across an entire country albeit at different points in the sky. NOTICE the other videos of it show it much much farther away?

What it definitely is NOT, is a rocket or plane or ufo. What it IS is 2 dimensional light projected onto clouds. The evidence in the videos supports that theory over any other. People are stupid. Just wait. The truth will come out soon.

Amazing. Just to think just one of those dots spans light years across and there is millions of them...

Try billions and that is just in OUR visible universe. Beyond what we can presently observe there could be 100 times that number. :thumbsup

i noticed that as well.. but it seemed like there was projections from two sources

Jensen 12-09-2009 11:36 AM

'It was like a giant spiral - a shooting star that spun around and around. I initially thought it was a projector', added Axel Rose Berg, from Alta.

Celebrity astronomer Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard told VG Nett he had never seen anything like the lights.

He said: 'My first thought was that it was a fireball meteor, but it has lasted far too long.
'It may have been a missile in Russia, but I can not guarantee that it is the answer.'

Air Traffic control in Tromsø claimed the light show lasted for two minutes, but admitted that was 'far too long to be an astronomical phenomena.'

Tromsø Geophysical Observatory researcher Truls Lynne Hansen was certain the light had been caused by a missile launch.

He told Norwegian media that the missile had likely lost control and exploded. The spiral, he claimed, was the result of light reflecting on the leaking fuel. He was quoted as saying the light was sunlight, despite the strange lights showing up at night.

The Barents Observer quoted Norwegian Defence spokesman Jon Espen Lien as saying that the Norwegian military does not know what the lights were - but that they were probably from a Russian missile.

He said it was normal for Russia to use the White Sea and the Barents Sea as a testing ground for missiles.

However a Moscow news outlet tonight quoted the Russian Navy as denying any rocket launches from the White Sea area.

Norway should be informed of such launches under international agreements, it was stressed.

Totally agree. In the second video you can clearly see the source of the light is coming from the ground and being projected onto the clouds.
