Breaking: General McChrystal Fired!
 

Happening right now... Pres. to speak any minute.
But confirmed by CNN, McChrystal is out.

Not surprised... bad move insulting the commander and chief in a magazine who's primary advertisers are vodka and body spray.

CBC said he arrived at the White House with his written resignation in hand. That's not being fired.

I hope it ended with a fight and Obama landed a karate chop to McChrystal's temple for
the fall.

Article 91 ... Article 133 ... I'm sure they could think of a few others...

McChrystal and some other top people, aides, etc... had a Rolling Stone reporter with them for like, a month... and were fully aware they were going to be in an article in RS. They were quoted dissing the Pres, the VP, another General, pretty much everyone but Hillary. That's insubordination at the highest level it can go, and isn't tolerated. Same as when Truman shitcanned MacArthur.

And it isn't McChrystal's first offense either. His issues run deep.

Sad part is what he did was wrong, but if it was Bush, people would have been cheering his comments.

Contempt toward officials

"Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct."

The USMJ is the most fucked up thing in this country... A contract you sign makes you subject to an entirely different set of laws. Most people don't realize that. You can have a felony put on your record for something that isn't even illegal in the civilian world. I think that's pretty fucked up...

I'm sure there are plenty of people cheering McChrystal's too... his comments don't bother me, it's his very public insubordination that is the scary part. We can't allow a General that commands a chunk of the US Military openly opposing the President's war strategy. There were plenty of Generals fired under Bush & Cheney too.

A Rolling Stone interview shouldn't be taken that seriously...

heh. That's the only thing that saved his skin, then. Obama would have had to court martial him otherwise, or risk losing what support he does have for the war. Hopefully that counts as a dishonourable discharge.
