So finally got to see The Social Network last night.

If the film can be believed, the owner Mark Zuckerberg came over as a real ass hole. He had no problems stealing an idea off other guys,Divya Narendra, Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, even though he did take it to another level it was their idea. Then tried to deny he did and not give them any compensation by using lawyers.

Was never sure from the film what the relationship was between Mark and the other three guys. Was he paid for his work, meant to be paid or doing it on a split of the proceeds that were never envisaged. Or was it just a project? What ever it was their original idea.

Then he tried to screw the original backer and co founder Eduardo Saverin out of the shares of Facebook and again reverted to lawyers to try to keep his money. Of course money didn't mean anything to him. Until he could screw someone out of it and they wanted what was rightfully theirs.

I thought Jesse Eisenberg did a great job of portraying him.

Good film. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Bless! You thought a hollywood movie was a documentary. That is just *so* sweet.

Sorry, thought you *just* said you didn't know if the film's portrayal of Zuck was accurate? How can you think it was a good portrayal if you have no idea if that portrayal was accurate.

It actually wasn't a bad movie. Surprisingly.

Yes it was a lot better than I thought.

bronco67 11-18-2010 09:18 AM

I would say it was extremely interesting -- if anything.

I don't think the Winklevoss twins got screwed, BTW.

Sauverin got screwed.

CaptainHowdy 11-18-2010 09:31 AM

Do you a senior's discount or something??

Alky 11-18-2010 10:00 AM

Every character in that movie, was a self pretentious asshole.

Jakez 11-18-2010 10:01 AM

Mark Zuckerberg actually made a statement saying the portrayal of him was not accurate and that he's actually a really nice guy.

But that's what he WOULD say isn't it? Hmmm.

I didn't watch the movie, so not sure exactly what happened.... but ideas are dime a dozen... anyone can dream up shit while taking bong hits... but few actually have what it takes to execute those ideas... :thumbsup

Agent 488 11-18-2010 10:25 AM

james_clickmemedia 11-18-2010 10:28 AM

ottopottomouse 11-18-2010 10:37 AM

It seems like all you do these days is stalk a few members. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Your unhealthy obsession with them is borderline creepy. Go try and get laid or something as you come off as more pathetic than the people you try to bash.

If you change your life for the better, and become a happier person, you will no longer feel the need to rush in and comment on every post they make.

I dream up 50 ideas doing bong hits, for every one that ever gets done. :thumbsup

If you want to read a bit this is a pretty informative article on how Zuckerberg stalled building harvardconnection.com and took their idea, which he was coding for them, to launch thefacebook.com

The difference is Zuckerberg was supposed to be building harvardconnection.com for those guys and instead built thefacebook.com for himself. He didn't just steal an idea. He was supposed to be working with them.

CYF 11-18-2010 11:14 AM

It was definitely a better movie than I thought it would be.

Scott McD 11-18-2010 11:16 AM

I'll pass on that movie.

Hate Facebook, so certainly don't want to watch a film about it...

mineistaken 11-18-2010 11:34 AM

The first time I heard about the movie my thought was - Mark sponsored the film and its about Mark being the good guy. I am happy I was wrong. Now the question - was it sponsored by some of the other parties or its pretty much honest?

96ukssob 11-18-2010 11:36 AM

this movie is as close to being a true portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg as The Olive Garden is to Italy.

that being said, id still want to see it :1orglaugh

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh your an idiot. the movie is not a documentary and some of the stuff is fabricated. there are some realistic parts, but not all of it.

therefore, its close, like the olive garden is to Italy, but thats all it is

John-ACWM 11-18-2010 02:29 PM

Thanks for the info, I'll watch it pretty soon.

I know Mark personally and I can say that the portrayal was almost entirely inaccurate in comparison.

But if you were to describe the guy to a writer, it would come out as it did.

John. 11-18-2010 04:30 PM

have yet to see it, saw mixed reviews

I watched that movie few days ago and there are numerous questions unrevealed about FB history but what a hell. Looks like a real jerk Mark or it was just for the movie

The movie is inspired by a book that was written with information / details given by the co-Founder.

The second time watching the movie, after knowing this, it becomes painfully obvious.
