OnlyFans investigated over children accessing porn

Ofcom is investigating OnlyFans over concerns it is not doing enough to stop children accessing pornography.

The site - which allows creators to provide content to users on a subscription basis - is well known for hosting sexual content.

The regulator suspects it is not doing enough to stop those under the age of 18 accessing that material.

OnlyFans says it has been experiencing a technical issue, and insisted it "works closely" with Ofcom to "implement and develop best-practices on online safety."

A company spokeswoman told the BBC in a statement that it had experienced what it called "a coding configuration issue", which had had affected some "age thresholds" on the site.

However, it said those thresholds were always set above 18.

“OnlyFans discovered the reporting error and proactively amended our report to Ofcom,” it continued.

Announcing its investigation, Ofcom said it was concerned the platform had not implemented methods to check the age of users sufficiently to prevent under 18-year-olds from accessing "restricted material", including pornography.

It said its investigation would also assess whether OnlyFans failed to provide complete and accurate information in response to the regulator's requests.

The UK's media regulator has overseen video sharing platforms with a UK presence such as OnlyFans, Twitch, TikTok, Snapchat and Vimeo since November 2020.

It monitors their compliance with national laws and regulations.

These include having measures in place to stop children from accessing content that could harm their physical, mental or moral development.

I have to say.
How do we know what is harmful for children or not ?

We are not allowed to really investigate (not morally acceptable to expose children to something potentially armful for them).
The problem is that the measures taken to prevent a possible problem are at end, very extensive.

Meanwhile we also haven't proven if it's acceptable or not to give weapons to children and/or a trans friend or a trans teacher.
When did we decide that THIS* topic is the one that is the most important above any other?

* Preventing porn access, give weapons to children, give lgbtq friendly tuition

Kids these days are digital wizards! Despite age restrictions, they're masters at navigating the online world using VPNs and other tricks. Their resourcefulness knows no bounds!

They want to forbid children younger than 14 on social media.
And age verification to see if they are 18 already.

So i guess, if parents donīt want their children on social media before 14, they should start parenting.

To protect "children" age 14 - 18 we give up privacy and start a controlled internet.
Billions are wasted while even in western worlds there are children under poverty.

- If the police in Holland wanted to protect children, they would hire more policeman that go after pedos. I have seen them working, they need at least double capacity cause they don't have the time.
- They would invest more in education
- More children are abused in a Church than anywhere else.
- Even not abused, you teach them ferrytales.
- They would make sure they have a house when 18 years old, instead being put on a waiting list for 10 years.
- Relgions cause more harm and wars than porn.

You can get hormone blockers and in special cases go into transformation.
While they are forbidden to see a trans porn movie till they are 18 :)

States’ online age verification requirements may bear more risks than benefits, report says

A new report from the Open Technology Institute suggests that state laws designed to protect minors online haven't fully considered risks to free speech, data privacy and security. Some state age verification requirements designed to keep underage users from accessing “adult” content online may bear more risks than benefits, according to a report released Tuesday.

Age Verification Mandates Would Undermine Anonymity Online

Age verification systems are surveillance systems. Mandatory age verification, and with it, mandatory identity verification, is the wrong approach to protecting young people online. It would force websites to require visitors to prove their age by submitting information such as government-issued identification. This scheme would lead us further towards an internet where our private data is collected and sold by default. The tens of millions of Americans who do not have government-issued identification may lose access to much of the internet. And anonymous access to the web could cease to exist.

Why We Are Against Age Verification Mandates
Age verification laws don’t just impact young people. It’s necessary to confirm the age of all website visitors, in order to keep out one select age group.

That is the "problem", they will use Age Verification Control everywhere saying it is for protecting kids.

Google will have the choice, block porn, block texas and other states, or use AVS. What would Google do?

Also very handy with a new pandemic or war, than they want to control all information, and bank accounts.
