Have you had any luck with .website domains

the question is in the title just wondering was thinking about picking a few up not really expecting much how do they do in search rankings

Believe me there will be no difference in how they perform to say .club or say .<anything> other than the existing algorithms will prevail.... I never bother with the new extensions, there are just so many of them and no particular reason to own them.

Try it. In the worst case scenario you wasted the annual fee and reuse the content.
I would not pay a premium price until it is proven in concept.

You might trap a lot of novice internet users if that works ... Big if

https://www.google.com/search?q=sex+website
:1orglaugh:1orglaugh offender registries , dating came in first though ...

heuristic, holistic and semantics

Sure but of all the new extensions that came up in say the last five years, which ones did become a proven concept? They're all basically nowhere.... :2 cents:

I wonder what .google will be used for and how that will effect their thinking ... For $4.00 WTF that is like like buying a lotto ticket for sport ...

Hmmmmm, well I doubt it will really take off partly because the extension is so long to type in but you're right $4/yr is pretty damn low and probably for that reason.... actually that makes it less attractive for me.

.com = 4 chars

.website = 8 chars

At the time when everyone wants something short and easy to type in, this doesn't move things forward.

Barry-xlovecam 12-11-2014 12:45 PM

.website how do u speel dat? D'oh

The only issue I see is that "website" is all inclusive ... that is a fail probably

crockett 12-11-2014 12:50 PM

Why didn't they just name the extension .web no one is going to want to type in .website + the actual domain name.. it's way too long.

Don't waste your time with .website or any other new gTLD/sTLD. If you want your site to have credibility, go with .com

Let's go back 12-13 years to when .info and .biz were launched.

Afilias though the $1 price point would encourage more new .info registrations. It did, but the problem was email spammers bought them as a cheaper alternative to .com The general public had little interest in developing them.

The ccTLD .ws for Western Samoa has been marketed as an abbreviation for website since inception. Look at how popular that's become.

JosephFM 12-11-2014 05:13 PM

These new TLD's are a waste of time.

You have .ws that has been marketed as dot website for years now, now you have .website and .site is comming next year.

There is .photography, .photos, .pictures, .pics, .gallery etc. for example and soon to appear .sex .porn .adult ...

.movies, .videos, .films WTF!!

Fucking stupid if you ask me.

Opt!musPr!me 12-12-2014 07:32 AM

Mine is set up as a white-label in which i already made $20 so the purchase prevailed thanks for your input was not going to put a main site thinking its going to be the best site in the world just easy to remember for social networking thanks all that replied :2 cents:
