Cam vs. Webcam - what do you call it?

Cams connected to the internet are getting into more and more technology devices ex. in phones, TVs etc., so it makes less and less meaning to differentiate between the different types of cams, since they are all connected to the same thing (the internet) and used in more or less the same way (communication, and recording moments).

So does this make the word "webcam" eventually fade out, like the words "web browser" (now its just called a "browser") or "telephone" (tele" which means distant, is irrelevant for most people to craps the concept of the phone, which is why its just called a "phone" today) etc.

So what do you call that video communication, and recording device in your technology devices? A Cam or Webcam? :)

I picked 'Big Brother' primarily because 'Web Cam' wasn't a choice, but also because your mic and web cam can be activated remotely and surveilled upon. :upsidedow

Webcams for sure!

Generally I use the term webcam when I am refering to broadcasting on the internet.

I see you called your site camgirlhandbook.com and not webcamgirlhandbook.com - so is there a difference between the two?

...

Personally I think the cam slang/lingo/language is in a stage of getting rid of the "web" prefix - just like the phone language got rid of the "tele" prefix - ex.:

Telephone Sex -> Phone Sex
Webcam Sex -> Cam Sex

Great question that I never thought of...

Webcam is a used among new users..

Camming is what the vets or pros call it.

inkognito 07-02-2010 10:08 AM

I like to say Cam.

CamsMaster 07-02-2010 01:22 PM

my vote is CAM

camgirlshide 07-02-2010 02:34 PM

use both for max search results

camgirlshide 07-02-2010 02:35 PM

then the next question is:
cam girl
cam model
cam babe
webcam girl
chat host
just too many combinations

Jarmusch 07-02-2010 02:35 PM

Depends on my mood.
