Newbie seeking prelaunch advice

I want to start off by initially saying, thank you. I have been a member of this forum for a few months and I have learned a ton about the adult industry. I?ve been thinking about starting a site for years so I decided it was time to pull the trigger.

I have decided on my niche, its one of my favorites. I have done a lot of research on my competition, and there doesn?t seem to be a great deal of it. I have purchased my domain name, and began building my site. Sadly, my site construction and setup will take some time, but that will give me time to get it right. So if you don?t mind I have questions, and am after suggestions. My site is subscription based, and once I get customers to it, it can pretty much sell itself. The biggest question is.. getting quality customers.
I came up with a 2 way plan for a marketing mix: organic traffic from SEO via Google (or whoever) and affiliates.
SEO
I have done, what I believe to be, a great deal of research on my potential keywords. Some I have used analytics tools from Google, others I have blatantly ripped off from my competitors. That being said, I have read that SEO isn?t all that necessary, and loads of horror stories about people getting ripped off. I can?t see how you rank in a general search engine without SEO so I guess it?s a must. If anyone has a good SEO guy(s) I would appreciate it.

Affiliate Marketing
I think this is worth big money! Affiliates make their money by making money for other people, so they know how to find/bring in quality customers. My question is, how much to pay? I have seen some non-adult affiliates get as little as 10% per sale, and then there is AFF which pays out a ridiculous amount for a single customer and cam sites that give affiliates a % for life. I?m not able to pay out hundreds of $s for a single customer and if I give up a % for life I will never make any money. So my thought is to pay out about $10 per paying customer. Thoughts, suggestions? Anybody know a good way to build a good affiliate network?
Am I missing anything? Is there some form of customer generation I have missed? Not to mention, before I go live with it I would like to bring it here first and see what some other WMs think of it, constructive criticism is always a good thing.

Appreciate the time
