http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/new...ps-us-shut-out
The United States has fallen short in its bid to host the 2022 World Cup, as Qatar has been awarded the tournament. Russia has won the right to host the 2018 World Cup. Australia, South Korea and Japan were also bidding on the 2022 World Cup. Russia beat England and a pair of joint bids from Spain and Portugal and Belgium and the Netherlands for the right to host the 2018 World Cup. Russia won despite the absence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Zurich. At the last minute, he declined to make a final pitch for his country. |

And for their next great decision they chose Brazil. Anyone see the war on the streets between the army and the drug gangs? Now it's Russia. Out of the 3 that's the safest bet. The police will crack heads long before the fans arrive and they have so much money who cares if they build stadium in places that will never fill them after 2018. Look where England planned to build 2 stadiums. Plymouth and Milton Keynes. So in the season 2018/2019 home grounds for Plymouth Argyle and Milton Keynes Dons. For Americans they don't announce the names of teams there. They announce the names of the crowd it's so small. As fucked up as you can get. What's wrong with the world class stadiums England already has? |
I'm happy and sad at the same time. Happy England didn't get it because it would have been a farce, with lots of trouble as the England fans are violent fucks.
Sad because being from Scotland, I would have loved to go to a few world cup games and see some of the best teams in the world playing so close to home. |

anyway some of the worst fans in the world now are russian and they won it, coupled with some of the worlds most corrupt police, racism, mafia, no stadiums built yet, 1000's of miules between stadiums etc etc. england had a far better bid than them but lost it because the british press exposed fifa for what they are, corrupt. the sooner batter dies and fifa get a shake up the better. |

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN INTERRUPTED BY A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Slutboat does not speak for all Americans. I love futbol and I equally love football. I spent my layover Monday peering through a window into an employee area of the airport so I could watch the Barca vs. Real Madrid game. |

Let me break it down for you. Brazil has 5 world cup Tittle, most tittles of any nation and is the 8th largest economy is the world ? all good fuck brazilians, they dont deserve it... South Africa, Well Fifa wanted to bring world cup to africa and 95% of football related sales come from South Africa, thus it was a safe bet. Sorry Sarah but your arab friends in africa did not deserve a world cup. Qatar, has ONE fucking city in the whole country of less than 2 million. its 120 degrees there in the middle of summer. Country is a supporter of Iran and rulers are members of a Muslim Brotherhood. Of course real shit dont matter to you. Qatar's claim to fame in football, they cant make a goal when no one is guarding it. RUssia, largest country in the world, nuff said. |

As far as I know, the NYC people are used to give this name ("Russian Mafia") to the organized criminal groups consisting of former exUSSR citizens preliminary of Jewish nationality. As far as you may know, the only Jews were able to leave the USSR in 70s-80s of the 20th century. They were using the standard immigration scheme: USSR->Israel->USA (NYC, Brighton). This what the US "Russian Mafia" is. I don't know why Americans call it "Mafia" (firstly it's an Italic word, secondly it has a different meaning than the just organized criminal groups) and I don't know what they cal it "Russian"... |

There was NO Russian Jews immigration to Israel in the 70s. In fact there was non til 1988. All Russian Jews in the 70s and 80s were going USSR > Austria > Italy > USA. There was NO russian mob in NY til mid 90s when actual ethic and former USSR russians started coming to US. You're trying to tell us there is no such thing as russian mafia and its an american invention ?? And that all Russian mobsters are jews ? What are you Putin's fluffer ? |

Semion Mogilevich, resides in Moscow. He's believed by European and United States federal law enforcement agencies to be the "boss of bosses" of most Russian Mafia syndicates in the world. |

Immigration from the Soviet Union The last large wave of immigration came from the Soviet Union after 1988, in response to heavy political pressure from the U.S. government. After the 1967 Six-Day War and the liberalization tide in Eastern Europe in 1968, Soviet policy became more restrictive. Jews were denied educational and vocational opportunities. These restrictive policies led to the emergence of a new political group - the 'refuseniks' - whose main goal was emigrating. The refuseniks (Jews who were refused exit visas) attracted the attention of the West, particularly the United States, and became an important factor influencing economic and trade relations between the United States and the Soviet Union. The 1975 Jackson Amendment to the Trade Reform Act linked granting the USSR 'most favored nation' status to liberalization of Soviet emigration laws. Beginning in 1967 the Soviet Union allowed some Jewish citizens to leave for family reunification in Israel. Due to the break in diplomatic relations between Israel and the USSR, most émigrés traveled to Vienna, Austria, or Budapest, Hungary, from where they were then flown to Israel. After 1976 the majority of émigrés who left on visas for Israel 'dropped out' in Vienna and chose to resettle in the West. Several American Jewish organizations helped them obtain visas and aided their resettlement in the United States and other countries. However Israel wanted them and tried to prevent Soviet Jewish émigrés from resettling in the United States after having committed to immigrating to Israel. Israeli officials pressured American Jewish organizations to desist from aiding Russian Jews who wanted to resettle in the United States. Initially, American Jews resisted Israeli efforts. Following Mikhail Gorbachev's decision in the late 1980s to allow free emigration for Soviet Jews, the American Jewish community agreed to a quota on Soviet Jewish refugees in the U.S., which resulted in most Soviet Jewish émigrés settling in Israel. About 2 million Soviet Jews emigrated to Israel, the U.S. and Europe combined. Some 100,000 Ashkenazi and Bukharian Jews came to America. Quote:
