As I do every year...I encourage you

...to adopt a military family for Xmas...so to speak...and contribute what you can to help them have a better Xmas...even if it is just to wish them a Merry Xmas.

I contribute to 20 military families every year.

seeandsee 12-02-2010 06:02 PM

i say help children without family

theking 12-02-2010 11:10 PM

Eyes on.

moeloubani 12-02-2010 11:39 PM

Please help the ones with the brains not to send their children to get killed for no reason. Why weaken the human race?

Here's last years train wreck thread on the same subject.

This idiot is going to keep bumping the thread until xmas. I've asked repeatedly since last time pathfinder/theking did this: WHY SHOULD I HELP A MILITARY FAMILY RATHER THAN HELPING ANY OTHER FAMILY?

I have serious doubts that you donate to any cause...but none the less I suggest you donate to what ever cause that you have an interest in...thank you very much.

The military is one of my interests/causes among others.

I will donate to Wikileaks this holiday season.

i would love to cooperate.. but why support someone that goes to war.. i mean i know the gov makes u.. but everybody should just decline war

Chris 12-03-2010 05:59 AM

just military families in general? I live next to ft hood

military families are not hurting ..at all.

Sure the ones who lost a spouse in combat yea see if they need help but most of them already are getting pensions and life insurance payouts.

What exactly do you help them with? I am not at all putting down the military or the families at all but im just confused as to what they need help with at christmas time??

I personally donate to shelters for kids

minicivan 12-03-2010 07:05 AM

The sad thing about this guy is that he really only posts here because he has no one else and nothing else.

Emil 12-03-2010 07:13 AM

How do I support these guys? They surely did a great job killing those innocent people!

I would guess the only support they would appreciate is more AK-47's, RPGs and explosives

QFT :2 cents:

I could see donating to homeless vets, but military families? Maybe I am missing something, but having friends in the military I know first hand their families are much better off than many in this economy.

I'm betting you don't donate to any cause, let alone military families who don't really need help. I can't think of any other GFY members that are more full of shit than you are.

Not only do I donate money but I volunteer. Granted my "cause" isn't as ridiculous as helping military families. :1orglaugh

Everyone that I know in the military drive new cars, eat out a lot, have nice houses, smartphones, flat screens, nice computers, gaming consoles, etc.

Why do they need my help?

marketsmart 12-03-2010 10:38 AM

you should save that money and go get your head examined...

CDSmith 12-03-2010 02:22 PM

I don't see where theking is saying send anyone money. "help out" could mean anything from sending a card to calling them up and just offering some moral support and asking if there's anything they need. Although I'm sure most military families are looked after financially I'm sure there are some that aren't, due to certain circumstances, and might be going through some pretty rough times right now. Nothing at all wrong with being there for a family or two like that during the holidays, if you happen to know any that is.

Me, I don't know any military families personally, but I have in past years given money to local homeless shelters, and have also contributed food items to those putting together hampers to give to a family at Christmas. I've also dropped the odd toy or food item into bins to help underprivileged kids and families. I'll be doing some of that this year as well.

I see nothing wrong with a thread that advocates giving or caring, or at the very least giving a damn about something or someone other than one's self. Military families do merit some compassion, especially ones who have lost someone to whatever war that happens to be underway. That's a pretty damn huge sacrifice to make, and it's probably nice to get a "Hey how are you all doing?" from someone once in a while, if only to let them know they or their sacrifice isn't taken lightly nor forgotten.

Vendzilla 12-03-2010 03:11 PM

My veterans group does stuff all the time, like send a care package to soldiers serving in Iraq or sailors in the gulf. When you're in the service, a care package goes a long way, reminds them someone cares about them.
Contact your local VFW if you're interested, any help is welcome.
This will be the first christmas with my daughter in 4 years now thats she's out.

I think anyone that uses this time of year to think of others who need something is great. Its not always toys or food that is needed. Sometimes those people over there fighting for our country are so disconnected from reality, and a simple card or care package really goes a long way. They don't want to be there, and they can't choose to just "decline war".

iggysick 12-04-2010 07:17 AM

win! i did!

I especially love the part on this page about perfumed letters:
Quote:

Don't Douse the Box/Envelope with Perfume:

Women think this is wonderful, to spray perfume all over a man's gift or letter. And honestly, our men probably like to receive the smelly treasures too. But when your husband has to carry that letter through three hallways and up four ladders back to his room, he may not be thrilled dragging a cloud of feminine perfume behind him. Remember, the military is notorious for issuing its members "call signs" or "nicknames" at their weakest, most embarrassing moment. If you don't want your husband to be called "Christian Dior" for the rest of his career, go easy on the scents.

Sorry, but I wouldn't donate money unless I knew they weren't republicans. If the military family voted republican then sent their people over to Iraw and that god damn clusterfuck, they are too mentally retarded to deserve my money.

If they willingly choose to continue to vote for warmonger parties who send them to war they can fend for themselves.
