any one here getting the Galaxy tab?

just curious, think it looks good however I would only be using the email and text... thoughts?

Si 12-19-2010 01:17 PM

I've been looking at it, haven't made my mind up yet.

But I mainly want a new camera so the tab may be left until next year on my "to get" list

candyflip 12-19-2010 01:18 PM

I've got the galaxy phone abd thought about it. I just got the new barnes and noble nook color. I'm gonna hack it into a full android tablet when I get home tonight.

Cost $250 to the $599 they want for the galaxy tab. Withou hacking it...it does internet and email.

Was not aware that Motorola had released their tablet yet, but anything running android will be able to browse they web and email with no issues.

I will probably pass on the nook on and get the 10 inch galaxy tab when it comes out. The nook was a gift, so I'm not gonna complain about the size.

i played with the tab at one of those screen protection kiosk in the mall while i was getting my ipad done ..to me the thing was just too small in my hands for it to be a tablet

if you have big hands you prob wont like it .. good for kids and girls with small hands

Full screen wide screen video display should be similar to viewing wide screen (but no full screen) on the ipad. The one thing that turns me off to the ipad is the full screen video playback. Widescreen is the way movies should be viewed.

it wasnt how much you could view on the screen it was the actual size of the product in your hand .. it's not that big

Its not meant to be big. But I know what you mean. Like I said...I want the 10 incher when it comes out. Looks like it will have a sliding keypad too...which will be nice.

Check google...someone put out photos last week. Specs are nice too.

The Galaxy tab actually runs an updated version of the processor that's in the iPad. It might be a little bit smaller, sure..but its faster, runs flash and has loads of app comparable to those on the iOS platform.

Both of those are nice. Full Windows 7 on the Samsung too.

I'm typing this from the Nook and it works nicely.

If you read books and only plan to use email and web...this is a nice little tablet for $250.

Si 12-19-2010 06:25 PM

Will wait for the 10" if it has a keyboard! that will be perfect :)

martinsc 12-19-2010 11:54 PM

I have it and love it :thumbsup
The size is just perfect to fit a jacket pocket and very comfy to hold with one hand. Lots of great apps on the android market and i just don't leave home without it :thumbsup

Its not a phone...so not out of the box. But I'm pretty sure you can get it to run Google Voice which will let you talk and text over voip.

True dat.

Relentless 12-20-2010 08:06 AM

Bought one after waiting a month and watching it get hyped.
Owned it for two days and returned it...

It's not a bad device, but it's nowhere near as polished as my iPad. It has the feel of a device that will become great a few years from now when they release the galaxytab5 or 6.

Relentless 12-20-2010 08:07 AM

The size is great, flash enabling is great, lots of good things but it lacks the solid reliable simple feel of the iPad.

good point. next version or 2 should be better.

Allison 12-20-2010 09:34 AM

My husband got one. He loves it.

JustDaveXxx 12-20-2010 11:46 AM

I will wait for the next gen of Ipads. Apple seems to have it right. I never hear any complaints about the Ipads.

candyflip 12-20-2010 10:12 PM

There is a video comparison on Youtube. Rooted $250 Nook vs $600 Galaxy Tab and the reviewer recommended the Nook over the Tab. I gonna go buy another tomorrow for my girl for Christmas.
