Instead of having 100+ Wordpress Blogs

What is a good blogging software that won't need to be updated every damn month.

this feature has also been tied directly into the main wordpress package as of wordpress 3.0.

yeah, but updating one install is WAY better than update 100+ installs.

You actually don't need to update it. Unless there's a serious security or mission critical update. There's an old adage that says "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Caligari 12-30-2010 04:54 PM

yep multi-user is great if you have 100 different domains using wp...NOT

wp needs to slow it the fuck down and get it right the first time, these weekly upgrades are worse than microsoft:2 cents:

90% percent of the upgrades i've seen have some kind of security patch involved.

exactly.... I'd rather run something basic that's stable and secure than a script that needs regular security updates...

Agent 488 12-30-2010 04:58 PM

not keeping wp updated is suicide. but the rest of the blog platforms sucks worse balls.

There's a difference between a "security" update and a security update. Read the changelog and decide for yourself if it's an update you actually need or not.

We have blogs that still run on wp 2.9 and they run just fine and are still secure.

oldbrad 12-30-2010 07:59 PM

Use drupal multisite.

epitome 12-30-2010 08:22 PM

blogs organizer is written to do just that.

FreeHugeMovies 12-30-2010 11:55 PM

I just read everyone's post and I still don't have an answer LOL

Agent 488 12-31-2010 12:03 AM

Ok, here's a more specific answer....

Wordpress MU 2.9

Then download gdpress tools (or insert plugin that does the same thing here) and disable update notifications for wordpress and plugins.
Problem solved.

Regardless of what many people say, or would like to believe, wordpress, or any other software for that matter, does NOT need to be updated every single time they release an update. 95% of the time or more, all those updates are just minor patches that are not mission critical nor will they affect the overall security and stability of your software and/or system/server.

Nurgle 12-31-2010 04:37 AM

whats with all the bitching, if u cant update 100+ wordpress blogs in under a couple of minutes then ure clearly setup wrong and shouldnt be running blogs as you clearly dont know what your doing!

TheDA 12-31-2010 04:40 AM

I'd stick with Wordpress myself.

Look at automating the updates.
