And now R.I.P. Gerry Rafferty

Stuck In The Middle With You is worth getting a mention alone...

He had been ill for some time but still sad.

"wrote the multimillion-selling hit Baker Street, which more than 30 years after its 1978 release still netted him an annual £80,000."

holy shit that is amazing, seems like one of the few who didn't get screwed on his contract.

the stars are dropping like flies in 2011-
Gerry Rafferty
Ann Francis
Pete Postlethwaite

I think it is great when somebody writes an honest to goodness great song and actually gets the rewards for it.

ThumbLord 01-04-2011 05:05 PM

Stuck In The Middle With You is probably making as much as Baker Street on royalties and do not forgrt other songs by Steelers Wheel

I remember being in a pub in Brighton right after 'Baker Street' came out, and some tosser put it on the jukebox literally all fucking night long. It's a great song, but that was idiotic.

brassmonkey 01-04-2011 06:05 PM

arock10 01-04-2011 06:24 PM

Surely you've heard Baker Street before. Ann Francis starred in Forbidden Planet with Leslie Neilson who just died last month himself.

fatfoo 01-04-2011 07:05 PM

He had the gift of perfect pitch - that's quite impressive. R.I.P. Gerry Rafferty.

Sad news. He was awesome!

"Stuck In The Middle With You" reminds me of GFY sometimes.
CLOWNS TO THE LEFT OF ME, JOKERS TO THE RIGHT....
