How Do I Reformat A Vista OS Laptop

I own a Sony Vaio that I have to send for warranty service.
How do I reformat the hard drive?
I really don't want the techs to see what is on the hard drive.

Thanks

Right click on the drive and select "Format...".

there is an option after the first steps of the installation, when the installer ask you to select the partition.

Drop off balcony and get a new one.

I think he means that his laptop is the same as mine, and never came with a re-install CD. It just came with some piece of paper, with a green circle in the shape of a CD, saying there was a "System Recovery" point created, or some shit.

Tempting, but I did buy the extended warranty and it expires in 2 months. With some luck, they will not be able to fix all my real and imagined problems and I will get a new laptop.

So after I right click on "C" and do that format thing, will VISTA be automatically reinstalled or something like that, since I do NOT have a recovery disk...? (I think I made one 3 years ago, but it is now lost).

First off, make another recovery disc.

How do I that?

You might actually check to see if they want the hard drive included. If I am sending a laptop in for some hardware problem other than a hard drive issue, they usually ask me to pull the drive before sending it in, so they are not liable for any data loss

Quagmire 01-07-2011 09:31 AM

Jebus. reboot it, press F8 and go in to the support options and do the factory reset on it.

SmokeyTheBear 01-07-2011 09:48 AM

often they come pre-shipped with windows on a hidden partition for reinstalling.. go into bios and see what u got, well better yet lookup your sony model # on google

chaze 01-07-2011 12:03 PM

you will have to re-install the OS and choose format when doing so.

If you can't figure out how to format it then just smash it against your head repeatedly since you are retarded.
