Haiti
One year on, and it looks like all the money donated has done pretty much fuck all.
It's been proven worldwide that governments can't be trusted with the money from these huge aid appeals. No wonder i hardly ever bother giving money to anything now... :disgust |
Haiti was corrupt to begin with, they should have known that.
Too bad they couldn't have set up an independant group to get funds and other aid to the right places where it was actually needed and going to make a difference. |
see 'administrative costs'

There was a piece on PBS the other night about the gangs running Haiti now. Didnt really watch it. You make your bed, you lie in it I guess.

Well like any other disaster when a country donates money to a third world country like Haiti it takes a long time for them to get it, if they ever get it that is. Just because someone says they will donate $10million does not mean they will ever release the funds and send it.
|
They just need to make it a Tax Free haven and bring some jobs in ... things would straighten out

Mind you i wouldn't have donated to that anyway... |
Just like them selling the kids on TV. PLease donate to save this starving kid. etc etc.
Those kids see 1/100th of whats donated while the people running it live in luxury. |
The UN is depopulating there, don't expect things to get better for a while
|
UNICEF was and still is the biggest scam ever, pre-checked cross-sales have nothing on little kids with tears in their eyes and donation boxes in their hands.
I've always wanted to get in on a "charity", heck the salvation army doesn't even report income because it is considered a "church" entity. charitynavigator [dot] org will give you a break down on where the money goes for some major charities, very useful indeed. While still one of the most useful things you can do is get a bag of tools to farmers in the country side so that they can grow food and build walls to keep thieves out, short of that Red Cross, Food for the Poor, and Lutheran World Relief are your best bets for Haiti. |
Well if you are from the US don't worry about it too much. Even though 1.5 billion was pledged only 120 million has been released and that was a full 11 months after the earthquake struck.

This reporter in Haiti doesn't realize it, but she's just walked in on the organ havesters
https://youtube.com/watch?v=t8gTeTyJ89E There is serious money to be made from a full body of healthy organs, at least $100,000 per full set of healthy organs. Steve Jobs is looking healthy |
