no sir, really want one tho.. thinking about building one for this spring

Roald 02-02-2011 12:29 PM

we got them at the office, use them rarely. most of the time they are at the `normal` low height.

Rochard 02-02-2011 12:29 PM

Years ago I used to work as a telephone operator for the local phone company - Directory assistance really (411). (Laugh all you want - I was making $70k a year and the office was 75% chicks!)

We had some 200 positions in each room, two rooms in my office, and each room had ten stand up positions.

We had this one chick who was obviously right out of high school and a former cheerleader... And in-between calls (411 calls averaged like fifteen seconds) she would do little cheer routines. I used to sit there all day long watching her hard as a rock.

You have skillz to build one.. I'm mad at my Dad for not showing me any of that stuff. Wood right?

datatank 02-02-2011 12:38 PM

you come up with the dumbest shit dude

Barefootsies 02-02-2011 12:43 PM

When I worked in the business off back in telco (Ameritech/SBC/AT&T) they had these desks. It really was nice to be able to stand up half the day. Not only because you get tired of sitting, but you could also check out the chickies in the office.
:2 cents:

Why do you think that is?

SGS 02-02-2011 12:54 PM

Yes I have when I was having back problems a couple of years ago. Took an age to get used to sitting down again when my back was better.

Get your self a treadmill desk. You'll thank me later.

Tom_PM 02-02-2011 02:34 PM

Donald Rumsfeld was famous for using one. He even used it when he wrote a note about Abu Garaib and torture. Something along the lines of, I stand up all day, why is making them stand up a problem? Crazy people, lol.

You'll need some comfortable shoes and flooring is all I know.

mynameisjim 02-02-2011 02:37 PM

I just put my laptop on my bar and it's basically a standing desk. No matter how good your chair or desk is, you need to mix up the position you work in every now and then otherwise your body starts to get messed up.

Damn that is pretty fucking cool. Would look a bit awkward having 3 of those in my office though.

I definitely could not work in one of those stand up desks.

NetHorse 02-02-2011 02:45 PM

Sure. My bar counter and a laptop.

I can only work in Starbucks. I need the ambience on the public. Otherwise i touch myself all day long watchng porn.

Deej 02-02-2011 04:41 PM

I mother has both versions. Im not a fan of the stand up set up. I just prefer a good comfy lumbar supportive chair.

jml23 02-02-2011 05:54 PM

my vote is for treadmill desk...my ass is getting larger by the day

used one a few years ago and it was great...it was a stand-up desk but have a button that lowered it - was on hydraulics. not sure where we got them but they were really nice.

sit when you want and stand when you want - i personally like standing while talking on the phone, so loved it

Have you tried that? I did, it was hard on the eyes. I guess if you walked really slow it might be better. It gave me migraines.

I think it could be good for people who don't really need to focus on the screen, like if you do alot of phone work. It's good if you just want to stay on top of icq while you walk, but to do actual "work", not for me. Try doing something in excel, forget it.

BIGTYMER 02-02-2011 10:16 PM

Fuck no. I can't rub one out standing up... Well I could but nah.

bronco67 02-02-2011 10:57 PM

I've been using one for about 8 months in my home office. I spend HOURS and HOURS at my desk.

Get some good shoes. I have a pair of Merrells that have never left my office. No outside action for them, just for standing at my desk.

Get a decent stool. You'll need to alternate between standing and sitting. Too much sitting will give you hemorrhoid. Guess what else will give you hemorrhoid... standing too much(it's true). Balance it out.

I would never go back to just sitting.

Every office I've worked in for the past 10 years have had elevation tables, they are awesome. Unless if they are very cheap and comes with a handle to elevate instead of a button haha

Just don't get cheap shit and you'll be good and if you are very tall you should make sure it fits your size.

TurboAngel 02-03-2011 08:00 AM

I wouldn't want one.

pornguy 02-03-2011 08:20 AM

Not into the stand up thing but I do need a new chair.
