Seo experts in here!

Funny question:

I i would want to rank for the keywords "walk my dog".
What domain would you prefer, hence, which one do YOU think would be easier to rank in the searchengines:

a. walkmydog.com
b. walk-my-dog.com

Your opinions are highly appreciated!

pristine 02-08-2011 08:47 AM

definitely a.

Yo Adrian 02-08-2011 08:59 AM

A without a doubt

PromoterX 02-08-2011 09:04 AM

I'll say B just because everyone else is saying A

jkthedesigner 02-08-2011 09:06 AM

Andy22 02-08-2011 09:33 AM

I say B, because i want you to fail!

combson 02-08-2011 09:37 AM

A is the correct choice, but since it is already bought, try to use watchmewalkmydog.com

Juicy D. Links 02-08-2011 09:37 AM

C

----------

bns666 02-08-2011 09:39 AM

it's more about backlinks and content than domain itself

Django 02-08-2011 09:44 AM

buy both

fris 02-08-2011 09:49 AM

a of course.

b. would be cheaper.

Brad Gosse 02-08-2011 09:52 AM

Doesn't matter. What matters is the links you get to the domain later.

Nicky 02-08-2011 10:55 AM

I would prefer A but B can work just as well.

AliGbone 02-08-2011 10:57 AM

a. walkmydog.com

Jack Sparrow 02-08-2011 12:15 PM

Thanks ya'll my pick was A too but i got into a nice discussion with a so called seo expert that was furious i had other pov's :)

dgraves 02-08-2011 12:19 PM

buy both and redirect B to A. when buying domains it's always a good idea to buy the hyphenated version to.

SmokeyTheBear 02-08-2011 12:24 PM

the answer is 437

roganoli 02-08-2011 12:27 PM

I buy (a) now... thanks for this suggestion!

watchmewalkmydog.com would be a worse choice.. a better one would be something like walkmydogSOMEOTHERWORDS.com

BSleazy 02-08-2011 05:24 PM

walkmydognowbitch.com

bloggerz 02-08-2011 05:31 PM

doesn't matter

icymelon 02-08-2011 05:49 PM

I would go with the dotnet before the dash

agreed :2 cents:

WiredGuy 02-08-2011 09:55 PM

I would actually say B for the reason that its clearer to a search engine where the word breaks are.
For example: whorepresents.com
To a search engine is that "who represents" or "whore presents".

The second example can act as a delimiter to the search engine.

i say buy a and b,
301 b to a and build links to b. stealth mode :thumbsup

Jack Sparrow 02-08-2011 11:54 PM

Then again you'd think google's algo could deduce what the site name is from titles, descriptions and header title tags. I.E : <title>Walk my Dog</title>

I don't think you need the hyphens. It looks better without them anyhow

If you never linked to the site with the words "walk my dog", then I would agree with you. But since the vast majority of inbound links would be "walk my dog", the SEs will figure out fast enough where the word breaks are. It's always been my experience that domain names without the dashes rank higher than those that have them.

Jack Sparrow 02-09-2011 02:18 AM

No hypens it is then.

d-null 02-09-2011 02:23 AM

too many people jump to a premature conclusion and pick 'a' when the thread starter is asking purely about seo

here is an interesting one, a "double dash" ranking high for a fairly popular keyword combination

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&xhr=t&q=...e4f2afc9a0cac5

http://hotel--canada.com

Kiopa_Matt 02-09-2011 02:26 AM

A... of course.

Maybe I'm mistaken, and my apologies if so, but aren't you constantly bragging about how rich you are on GFY?

we are talking about seo here, too much prejudice and lack of scientific thought and experimentation in this thread

it is a pr4 and it has two dashes in it, back to back of all things, that should teach us something here about our prejudices and kneejerk assumptions evidenced here in this thread

when people say "A, of course", perhaps they should be saying "A, I think, but I can't really say I know that for a fact"

seeandsee 02-09-2011 03:51 AM

walkmy-dog is best solution

BruceM 02-09-2011 05:05 AM
