Tripped out zombie trailer for Dead Island

Thought this was pretty unique and intense for a video game trailer.

Chosen 02-17-2011 03:43 AM

Fuck zombies...

Markul 02-17-2011 04:39 AM

Woa that hit hard!

Fletch XXX 02-17-2011 04:40 AM

Darkhorse 02-17-2011 04:47 AM

munki 02-17-2011 05:10 AM

Bad ass story line release... graphics look a bit cheeseball for this much production value though, or is it just me?

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 02-17-2011 05:27 AM

this has potential to knock blackops off the top of my game pile come release.

Also don't pay too much attention to the dead ...

justinsain 02-17-2011 08:09 AM

I saw this posted on a gaming forum yesterday and several remarked they would not play it
because the game includes children in the violence. Zombies or not they won't play if it involves harming children.

Ace_luffy 02-17-2011 08:13 AM

damn.. that really sad to a child!

average gamers is not who this is aimed at. People dont realize how big the "zombie" niche is, I have frieidsn who re horror book publishers and they are releaseing 5 zombie novels this year.

normal gamers is not who that is aimed at, the amount of emotional weigh on that is aimed at those in the zombie niche and who care about the story line.

However, i dont know if the game will be good or not, but just because some christian gamer didnt like dead zombie kids, dont mean it wont be a success.

I think the emotional weight brought on by the use of the children exemplify the nature of the morality questions that come into play in a good zombie story. Those who just see zombies and not the question of morality in zombie stories dont really understand the niche at all./

Average gamer or average person in general.

My comment wasn't about the appeal of the game. It's more about where some people draw the line as to what is entertaining.

It's along the same lines as the controversy with MW2 when the game had you shooting innocent civilians in the airport.

ah ok.

as life-long gamer since colecovision/atari days lol most people will not care and will just shoot everything in sight. The few never outweigh the many when it comes to games.

Shoot em up games by their nature are shoot everything lol oh noes a kid became a zombie "i wont play that!"

ridiculous, these people probably love the movie The Exorcist though.

lame.

justinsain 02-17-2011 08:26 AM

Here it is in forward motion

Fletch XXX 02-17-2011 08:32 AM

not to mention i watched zombie movie last night that had children zombies, those offended by this are those who were not going to buy it anyway.

Those of us who like the zombie niche can not careless. We already have 20-30 movies with worse than this in it! Kid zombies rule.

harder to kill!!!

kid zombies are not new, fuck those idiot gamers,I watch zombie movies at least twcice a week. My goal is to see everyone ever made hahah

As a life-long dog lover I still can't bring myself to shoot the dogs in BLOPs :winkwink:

There is a certain amount of reality connect or disconnect in every gamer when playing their games. Some people will have no problem playing a game where you point a shotgun at the face of a child and then blow their head off laughing the whole time.

Fletch XXX 02-17-2011 08:41 AM

I mean, really, Romero had kid zombie that gets bow and arrow to the head and hangs dead on the wall in Diary of The dead, I watched it last night lol

if Romero (as mainstream zombie as you can get) has zombie kids dying in his movies, its easy to see how it could be done in video games.

there is no game like that and in the trailer the child dies but is not shot in the face or anything, you are making it worse than it is for sake of discussion. This game will not feature gameplay of that nature, its a cinematic trailer not even actual game play LOL

No game featuring the killing of kids would survive mainstream scrutiny, however, a zombie kid jumping on you then falling out window (cause of death due to the childs actions) its again a morality issue but wont kill sales IMHO. Trailers should show depth of story line.

It's not about watching kid zombies in a movie or violence towards children in movies.

It's about playing a game where you initiate the violence.

It's the difference between watching a news report on TV about a murder and actually going out and commiting murder. That's entirely two different perspectives. One you're a spectator and one you're a player.

The mindset is different for each act.

haha i understand, I was vegetarian when I used to play WOW lol and i do not encourage killing of animals, but in the game as horde you must do evil things, and GUESS WHAT....

IT IS A GAME NOT REALITY. lol

those who understand that can play it and move on :)

I understand but this was duscussion started because you used the term "draw the line at what is entertainment"

A game/movie, doesnt matter its the context that is what is being discussed. Its all good though man, i wont buy it either as i dont play video games lol

but again do not confuse a cinematic trailer with game play.

There will be no shooting kids in the face, that is exxageration. The kid dies part of the story, doesnt mean this is going to be a "see how many toddlers you can kill" game LOL it would fail.

Fletch XXX 02-17-2011 08:50 AM

or i should say i dont have time to play them lol would ove to but simply do not have time and havent for awhile.... over a year

When I play zombies in BLOPS I walk right up to the guy and blow his head off with a shotgun. This trailer implies that children are in the game and will become zombies so it's easy to assume that sometime in the game you will be forced to deal with kid zombies. While you might not get to blow their head off with a shotgun since guns will be downplayed in the game, you might have to take a knife and slit their throats instead.

the logic that i cannot swallow is this:

an innocent adult zombie = fair game kill without conscience.

a adolescent zombie attacking you and you kill it = wrong.

If its a question of morality then how is killing innocents ok but an attacker not?

I dont go to gamer forums because it is impossible to argue logic to 14 year olds.

Fletch XXX 02-17-2011 09:13 AM

ps slitting zombie throats wont kill them.

SHOOT EM IN THE HEAD!

My guess is it's the psychology of dealing with an adult vs a child.

When dealing with an adult you assume they are mature, have an appropriate level of intelligence and life experience.

When dealing with a child they haven't had a chance to acquire what the adult has above so they should be treated differently.

It's why we have a separate criminal justice system for adults and minors.

The adult zombie is just that, a no good zombie that needs to be taken out :)

The kid zombie is more tragic in that a poor child has been taken over so it's harder to eliminate them while having some compassion.

but thats where the morality issue comes into play.

That adult zombie was someones husband, someones father, brother, but sure blow his brains out. Thatb was most likely innocent until attacked by zombie and became one.

Its the same thing, age matters not, there is no innocence when dealing with zombies.

It is the dead vs the living.

aim for the head folks. kid or not im blow you away

it was over the top with the little girl i guess

i bet they sell a boatload of games though

beerptrol 02-17-2011 09:32 AM

sweet. time to dust off the gaming console. Havent really played sincs RLH came out. Loved the Resident Evil games

pornguy 02-17-2011 10:05 AM

The Bikini Zombie was HOT.

alexchechs 02-17-2011 10:11 AM

Since it is a "sand box" style game I would be willing to give this a whirl. But first person shooters bore me to death.

um one of the biggest titles of all time is based on a kid with a sword. His age has increased in different titles, but he was at first a preteen boy.

Legend of Zelda.

There are others. Link was specifically a boy because it was based on the creators childhood and his explorations in japan as a child.

I felt the same way after seeing the video on Attack of the Show last night. Kevin Perreira didn't look too impressed by it, either.

Awesomenessssss

aztecboi2003 05-27-2011 05:40 PM

That game looked pretty good, a bit better than L4D
