Tetanus Vaccine Side Effects;
!) Feel pain in the injection area. Seventy-five percent of all adolescents and adults who receive the tetanus vaccine have pain in the injection area. This is a "noticeable" side affect, but not a dangerous one. You do not need to cal the doctor if minor pain occurs. 2) Watch for other mild side effects caused by the tetanus vaccine. Many people have experienced headaches, low grade fevers, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, redness and swelling in the injection site and mild body chills. These are all common side effects and do not require a doctor's attention unless they last longer than a few days. 3) Wait for more long lasting effects of the tetanus vaccine. These are prolonged vomiting, prolonged diarrhea, and more flu like symptoms. One in about 100 people experience these side effects. Contact your doctor if these symptoms get worse than the mild flu or continue beyond seven days. 4) Be on the look-out for a severe allergic reaction. Call your doctor immediately if any of the following symptoms occur. Common symptoms of an allergic reaction involve a rash, itching, swelling, dizziness and trouble breathing. These are not common side effects of the tetanus vaccine and a doctor should be called if you have any of these side effects. I have one regularly, every 5 years I think. No adverse effects.

Most likely you'll be ok, but...that's the one that killed my sister (anti-tetanus). We are talking 28 years ago, so the vaccine might well have changed
With any vaccine there's always the chance that you'll develop antibodies to something else that's mixed in with the vaccine, if it's something that's already present in your body then you're left with an autoimmune disease for the rest of your life. My sister developed antibodies to a substance that is present and muscles and joints, so she was screwed. Even peanuts, many vaccines are made with peanut oil, that's why you see so many people with peanut allergies these days, as their bodys thought "How the hell did this crap get into my blood without first going through the my stomach?" so created antibodies to it. Everyone's immune system reacts in a different way, so you never know what yours will choose to do. The older you get the less your immune system reacts to vaccines. Once you're over 60 vaccines are pretty much pointless other than to push you closer to heavens gates. You don't see peanut allergies in Israel as they instead use sesame oil in their vaccines. Israel has many people with sesame allergies. Of course, they don't tend to mention this stuff as otherwise loads of people want large sums of money and others stop receiving the vaccines altogether, so it's good business sense to keep this hushed up, so don't go mentioning this now! |
One of the most painful vaccines for sure. Take some ibuprophen, get lots of water and rest, and if the shot area is hot or swollen, you can bring it down with an ice pack for 20 min.
The last time I got one, my arm ached for nearly 5 days and I didn't feel too good, but it beats having lockjaw from metal poisoning. Hang in there and I hope you feel better. |
