SEO / Wordpress Question - Multiple Domains on different Category

OK GFY experts

So what happen if for big wordpress site with many category I register seperate domains with exact keyword match for my category names of main site and point to category?

What must I expect or be careful for?

Will this have effect on my rankings? POSITIVE, NEGATIVE or NEUTRAL?

Thanks for advise!:thumbsup

Don't link back to big wordpress site, would cause infinite loop.

from one side it could help but for linking it would suck cause all "domains" would basicly be on same IP address you would still have to do link building for every domain you have there. And you would have problem with duplicate content!

I've seen it done somewhere - can't remember where - and it only works with unique content on every domain as well as on the main site, and you often end up ranking higher on the domain than the category, but that shouldn't matter.
And like CaptainWolfy said, you still need backlinks for all those domains.

I've also seen it done another way, with free hosted blogs in long tail versions of the category on the site you are linking to. That often works better because the backlinks are coming from other IPs.
