Nice one but not an option for me because 1) I make notes on business cards 2) the digital contact exchange process seems to be more complicated and time consuming rather than exchanging physical biz cards.

Pseudonymous 03-18-2011 08:05 AM

I dont know, pulling out my phone and even pressing a few keys is more work than I want to do when im drinking, handing them a card and taking a look later is so much easier.

I wouldn't mind seeing business cards sticking around and im young and always on my phone. So it's not because im old fashioned.

minnie <3 03-18-2011 08:10 AM

Medical practitioners have recently started using similar apps too! Damn, gotta get me a better phone - wana trade? lol

Wizzo 03-18-2011 08:14 AM

I would say the downside for me would be, seems every show for each card I get that I want to keep I get 2or3 that don't make it further then my hotel room trash and would hate having to clear all those unwanted/unneeded contacts off my phone. :winkwink:

Also, like Lilit the ones I do keep tend to write notes on as well.

Not a very good idea. :2 cents:

Not everyone has an iPhone

For those who do get stacks of cards and want to import the contact info quickly:
http://sites.dymo.com/Solutions/Page...0ENG%28DYMO%29

Not that i used it for that .. i used to use it to scan models IDs on set/location and quickly import that info into a 2257 database ;-)

BUT it obviously works for it's original purpose as well. They also launched a product recently that does the same thing for you if you just take a picture from your phone of someones business card. But i have never used that product:

I too write notes on business cards!

xoxo,
Megan

Yeah, not digging this app. Seems more time consuming and less convenient then just swapping cards.

CE Adam 03-18-2011 03:28 PM

C'mon Shap - There are already enough people in this industry who don't bring business cards to shows....Don't encourage more not to! :)

I always chuckle when I meet someone at a show and ask for a card and they reply 'Oh yeah. I didn't bring any.' This is a business people.

Wikipedia def: Business cards are cards bearing business information about a company or individual. They are shared during formal introductions as a convenience and a memory aid.

:thumbsup:thumbsup

Vendzilla 03-18-2011 03:33 PM

My card has a place on the back for notes

WebairGerard 03-18-2011 03:38 PM

Not crazy about those apps at all. I will stick with business cards too. They are still easier, more convenient, can write notes.

Plus no learning curve for someone to take a card from you. lol

Jim_Gunn 03-18-2011 03:42 PM

As much as I am connected and reliant on my Android smartphone, it's still way easier to swap cards and then just input the info into your phone or computers later either manually or automatically with one of those scanners than it is to hope you both have a working technical solution and quickly make two transfers of data in the middle of the courtyard or wherever.

ThumbLord 03-18-2011 03:43 PM

am I the only one not writing on any business card?

D Ghost 03-18-2011 04:20 PM

Thanks for the heads up Shap.

Also for those who return "with a stack of business cards taller than the Sears Tower, Cardmunch is an efficient way to digitally archive them. The app sends out a picture of the card to be manually imputed by an actual human being. The data can then be emailed to oneself or exported into a CVS format for easy integration into Gmail or Outlook."

I've been using CardMunch and it's great.

I tend to take writing notes on a business card as a sign of interest. If someone's not writing notes on the card they are probably just being polite. :2 cents:

baddog 03-18-2011 04:30 PM

I never write on cards, and to be honest, my biz card is not really pen friendly.

HarryMuff 03-18-2011 04:48 PM

I'd hit it :hitit

ThumbLord 03-18-2011 05:42 PM

Interesting business cards are unharmed and collected into my card holder, the rest get trashed.

pristine 03-18-2011 07:52 PM

I added that to my last batch and it's working well.
Had to change the stock I usually use though.

I think bump only works with iphones, but I think it's a better app than the above. :2 cents:
