New EU law: Surfers need to be able to accept or deny website-cookies
I just read about some new EU law that will come on 1 July this year.
With this new law website owners must get the visitors permission before they store a cookie on their computer. Anyone heard more about this? Sounds fucking retarded. Aff-networks needs to start to track by IP. |
This would have far reaching consequences for pretty much EVERY site and server since even sessions in php send a cookie...
|
That's stupid. Don't most if not all browsers already let users decide whether to accept cookies or not?
|
The law only applies if you don't use cookies as part of a service.
If you use cookies for shopping carts, logging in and so on... it doesn't apply. If you use them for tracking, stats and so on... it does. |
We use sessions that are modified not to use a cookie when one is unavailable. . |
I'm surprised that they haven't come up with rules and regulations on how to take a dump
|
The systems to track people's behaviour are very advanced.
