Why are the best rock bands from the UK and best solo acts from the US?
I just heard this and it's true - the Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, U2, Who, Pink Floyd etc all from the UK and Buddy Holly, Elvis, Springsteen, Michael Jackson etc from the US
why? |
eh? that's not true whatsoever.
|
Would not say that's true. However, the brits do put out a lot of great bands. My favorite these days is Muse.
|
When I think back to my youth, I remember the Beach Boys were HUGE. And in even more pop stuff, it was Jackson Five and Osmonds getting tons of play. Maybe in the US it was more common to highlight one star out of their original group or something.

Most of the Brit Band in those days learnt their trade playing pubs, halls and small clubs.
But there were some great US bands. Dead, CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Beach Boys, The Band. |

pretty tiny list.. plenty of good music from everywhere solo and bands.
|
Because people in the US want to be successful solo, it's an ego thing.
|
Keane, Coldplay, Eurythmics, EBTG, Phill Collins, Sting... I'm effing British.
