monster.com is one of the biggest job sites such as workopolis. I'm sure you will receive lots of resumes, interested emails and contacts.

When looking for work, I have never used monster.com. It always seems to be full of recruiters - or the same company shows up over and over looking for a position they haven't filled in 4 years.

Maybe you will find better results in your area, but for programming/web/PHP work in San Diego I have not found Monster to be useful at all.

Before you post on Monster you might give Craigslist a try as I think it is now widely regarded as the second largest job board.

I think it's still free to post a job on CL in most cities in the US and even when there is a charge I think it's $75 at most.

If you do have to go with Monster and have an ad agency you work with, you might check with your ad rep to see if they can get you a posting at a discount. Some ad agency buy in bulk and sell them to their clients that just post sporadically. You get a discounted posting, your ad agency makes a quick $100-$300 of pure profit depending on their posting package. This also goes for CareerBuilder which may be stronger in certain cities than Monster.

Good luck finding the right person to fill your position.

They suck. I used it a few years ago.

Always sent me things never close to what I was looking for, and annoyed the shit out of me with constant, useless emails. Sucks balls. I would like to meet the owner of Monster, so I can smash him in the face with a canoe.
