Will your kids Inherit your Porn Business?
 

Once your kids turn 18 and you're fed up enough with the adult business, will you sell it all, or will you pass your business on to your kids?

I don't have kids, but I do wonder what will happen with my sites and domains after I'm gone... :)

I am hoping that my family maybe involved with our business in later years, when we have it more established.

by the time my son turns 18, I will be 50, I hope by then I'll be able to retire and leave him the business, that is, if he wants to deal with all the BS that goes on in the industry.

both of my boys have their own interests that do not involve a career path similar to mine thank god! I love what I do and I wouldn't want to do anything else, but the road to where I am now was long and hard. I am hoping they do not make the same types of mistakes I did :)

I don't think it would be terrible if they ended up in the same business, as I'm not ashamed of what I do in the least. I would try to push them a bit more though, have them get a chance to go to better schools and try to give them a better head start then I had growing up. I think by doing that it may help to at least let them make an educated decision on what they want to do with themselves in the end.

Same here, yet i don't think i would be too keen on seeing my own kids in the industry. Strange actually when you think about it.

However i don't have kids yet and don't have any real plans for any soon either so who knows what the future holds for any of us...

I'm in hopes of buying into different business investments to leave to secure my kids futures. But if at some point they decide this is what they want to do, It's all thiers. I'm not going to push this on them. as long as my other investments are good, who cares what happens with my ".xxx" domains after I'm done....lol

Wow. Didn't think I'd find parents who were insane enough to let their kids come into the porn industry. I guess GFY has it all.

If I'm still in this business when my kid turns 18, I will take my own life with no regret.

To be honest I'm at that funny stage where my kids are growing and starting to figure out that daddy's biz isn't exactly normal, and there's a lot of secrecy.

In the next year or two, they'll be brought into the loop... I hope they don't end up in this business though, there's a bunch more stuff they could do that'd leave me happier.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the people in here just agreed with me. It may be ok for them but not for their kids and you'll rarely see anyone say "I LOVE TEH PORN BUSINESS" unless they are morons(you), or want their lives to have some kind of validation.

That one would be up to them, not me.

My only stipulation would be they're actually ambitious about whatever industry or venture I'm involved in at the time, because otherwise, it'd just go down the shitter. Better off to sell it, and invest in something they are ambitious about.

For example, no point in handing off a software company to someone who wants to own a restaurant. Sell the software company, and buy a restaurant.

Personally, my business isnt just 1 website... it consists of film production, dvd sales, websites & within the next few weeks, live cam studios & a photographic studio on the South Coast of the UK.

A small time stalker doesnt make me laugh... only children would laugh at his comedy acts :thumbsup

I didn't know ppl are still measuring bizzes through Alexa, in this industry. You'll be surprised of how many good businesses are not rated on Alexa at all. If you intend to buy a biz, check their legal books and leave Alexa away. :2 cents:

My daughter is 10 months old, so in no way do I hope to pass my business on to her. Hopefully in 17 years, I'll be relaxing in retirement mode :)

I've been in the game long enough to know for a fact that many of the offline adult studios, distributorships and business owners had or have their over eighteen offpsring working in the companies and in some cases the younger family members started new divisions of the companies or took over the existing ones when the patriarchs died, went to prison, retired or got bored with it.

My son is 15 now and no he will be earning MORE MONEY as a soccer player.
He has a contract with Barcelona till he becomes 18, what happens after that only time will tell.

I'm at the point where I'm worried that my daughter will soon be able to read what's on my screen. Apart from browsing boards my monitor doesn't usually show much skin (I usually do that when she's at school or asleep), but for the remainder of the time there's often text that shouldn't be seen by young eyes.

To make matters worse, the door is slightly behind and to the left of me, which means it's out of my peripheral vision, so she can sometimes wander in without me realising. Time to rearrange my desk location, methinks.

way to perpetuate a common myth.. No job will give you validation, that is only something you can get from yourself. You think if you are working construction or cutting down trees for a living you will have a special bounce in your step because you are doing something more important and productive? Believe me you wont. Now you are going to think; hey what about doctors, lawyers and engineers? Those are some of the most important jobs on the planet. Surely those people are living fulfilled and happy lives right? All that would show is that you haven't talked with any doctors, lawyers or engineers.. I have known plenty of each in my time and haven't known many that are more happier than i am. I'm not going to argue that those jobs aren't important, because they most certainly are, but they wont make you happy, they wont give you validation.

You have to find that within yourself and your actions. The job is just something you make some money with. If you try to find validation in a job you will be miserable your entire life.

hmmm I don't know about you, but when I walk into a club and they announce my name over the dj system, I feel pretty damn validated! that and hearing about all the people I have no clue who they are telling people how they know me... haha it's kinda funny sometimes..

My son just turned 20 and he in college. I really want him to make it on his own.

But if I had to I would hire him, teach him, pay him commission. I know I could also make a phone call to about a dozen or so companies that would love to hire my kid. He full of personality and a people magnet. And he has my bloodlines.

Truth is it don't matter where you start anything. It's where you end up. Once he hired from me by com or by another company I could place him at ......at that point....he on his own and has to make himself an asset. Thats the bottom line. After a few months its you produce or your fired....kid or no kid....at least when it comes to biz...
