in my opinion, the most valid point there was my jd obenburger (sp?), who said that your best defense here is to make sure your domains are trademarked, then if ICM registry registers one of your domains/trademarks, which they can see via a publically available list, you can legally go after ICM.

i didnt see anything on obenburger's site, but another adult attorney, matt collins offer it, this is very smart to do http://www.mpcpc.com/trademarks

when you think about it, its no different than any of the other 200+ tlds (.co, , .biz, .info, .tv, etc) so if you ignore it, ICM should in theory go away

.xxx has very little to add, you wont get search engine traffic from them, and they wont send you traffic, and nobody is going to type it in.

Wont get se traffic?
I think you are wrong about that.

Ps. Lots of domainnames that are worth their gold are general terms (hence why se's rank them and people search for them), which makes it almost impossible to register a trademark on/for them.

The cost of registering hundreds, for some thousands, of domains would cost tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Fee schedule is here:

stop whining

.xxx is just another tld, it will get se traffic, if safe mode is disabled.

Trademarking and enforcing trademark infringement with WIPO arbitration will help content producing and paysite business operators.

It costs $325.00 - $375.00 to file for a trademark. If your domain earns a lot of money (or has the potential to) it is money well spent.

If you own commonly used keyword generic domain names you may not be granted the trademark.

If your key domains can be trademarked i suggest that you do so now.

Our trademarked names are Xlove, Xlovecam, Xlovegay and CleoVideo and have been registered since 2006.

There's no doubt that trademarking a bunch of domains can be expensive and time consuming. However, there's also no doubt that trademarking your best domains can benefit you on many different levels.

As a lawyer, I tell clients that domains are often their company's most important asset. Shouldn't you try to protect that asset if you could? Getting a trademark filed is really cheap insurance.

I'm happy to file trademarks applications for my clients and take care of the whole process so my clients can focus on business. Can you do this yourself? Sure. This is a question of whether you want to spend the time to learn how to do the registrations and then spend the time doing them. Certainly check out the PTO site and make your best decision.

I think JD was right on target with his comments and I appreciate you guys posting my name in this threat.

Matt
