So what would happen if someone burned a bible???

Seriously, couple of oldies in wheelchairs and walkers yelling aloud and losing their dentures????

We live in a fucked up world :upsidedow

damnage 04-04-2011 10:32 AM

I would be annoyed at the disrespect, and I would think it insensitive.

However it's their right to protest, and unlike lots of muslims won't kick up a worldwide riot.

seeandsee 04-04-2011 10:34 AM

next to nothing...

PR_Glen 04-04-2011 10:35 AM

i agree that it is a serious over reaction, but at the same time those pastors knew they were kicking a hornets nest when they did that so they have blood on their hands just the same...

Failed 04-04-2011 10:36 AM

What can we expect? We occupy their lands and kill innocent civilians every day. We're the terrorists to them, not the other way around. So, what may normally cause an intense reaction, now causes a blood bath instead. We reap what we sew.

Tom_PM 04-04-2011 10:41 AM

The koran is said to be gods actual words in human readable print, the bible is not. So burning the koran is tantamount to burning god or some such extreme seriousness. The bible is known to be written about events and things in some peoples various opinions, like a blog about a tv show. The koran is more like the actual script.

Terrible examples, but maybe that helps understand people's reactions.

_Richard_ 04-04-2011 10:43 AM

pretty sure bibles are sold at profit

ez12 04-04-2011 10:45 AM

Burning one right now and nothing seems to happen.. will keep u posted :D

I don't think it's a terrible example and do understand your point. Burning that book was stupid and caused death and protest. We know these guys care more about their religion and we taunt them although we are not over there to protect Any Religion but the $$ one :(

Babaganoosh 04-04-2011 10:46 AM

All religious texts are silly, superstitious trash. Anyone who thinks they are anything other than fiction is offensive to me.

Emil 04-04-2011 10:47 AM

Jesus will explode!

TheLegacy 04-04-2011 10:49 AM

Silly or not - no one has the right to destroy or burn another faiths "bible" or writings. Instead we need to be tolerant of each other and stop this crazy shit of bashing. If we are to ever get out of this world alive and leave something of value to our children - we need to start acting a bit more mature

We actually do have a constitutional right to do so. But, I get what you're saying :)

Yes, of course. How silly of me. All religions preach tolerance and love for people of different faiths. :1orglaugh

Respecting religious zealots (regardless of faith) is not going to solve anything. Eliminating religion entirely is the only real solution. Hopefully through common sense, education and attrition the world will become less religious over the next few generations.

Nicky 04-04-2011 11:02 AM

The Koran and The Bible are in the same category as The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy to me. Works of fiction.

beerptrol 04-04-2011 11:05 AM

Burn a bible and 100 altar boys get fondled by priests

I don't think you need to burn anything for this to happen.. But fortunately, altar boys are pretty close to be extinct :upsidedow

I never said it was perfect - but those who have faith need to respect and tolerate those who don't and it goes the other way around. Our world is falling apart because of wars and religious craziness on both sides. We live in a world with so much variation that the only thing that is certain is not who's right or wrong - but that we'll survive when we focus on mankind itself rather than religion or color of skin or where we were born. Yes there are idiots who serve religions that don't make sense - at the same time I have seen atheists do some pretty dumb things too - either way - we need to begin working together to make this a world that is still around for our kids to enjoy.

What's the dumbest thing you've seen an atheist do? Did one of us fly a plane into a building? How about hack someone's head off? Stone a woman to death for adultery? I did see an atheist get staggering drunk and go out to the bar in a grass skirt a coconut bikini one time but that's about it.

They burn bibles and American flags so often, it doesn't even make the news anymore.

They would be warmer for about 5 to 30 minutes depending on how much of it they add to the fire over time and whether or not they use an accelerant. Note: FF dictionary doesn't have that word yet...

So your solution to the problem is not to show respect and to eliminate their religion?

Congratulations you are part of the problem.

Stalin was NOT an atheist. Stalin was a communist who happened to have a pretty good idea. Hitler was a christian and McVeigh was a mentally ill catholic.

And yes, the solution is to eliminate religion entirely. There is absolutely no place for it in a modern world. It's a constant source of violence and hatred. Most religious texts encourage killing those with different views. In a perfect world religion would be recognized as a silly left-over from the dark ages and anyone living their lives according to a religious book should be ridiculed openly (kind of like Scientologists are today). It's a mystery to me why being a "good Christian" and attending church every Sunday is still considered a good thing.

I'm gonna start a religion that burns It's own book.

Barry-xlovecam 04-04-2011 02:57 PM

Best scenario ? it would be ignored as trailer trash arrogance.

Likely scenario ? the act would receive condemnation.

Wost scenario
? religious idiots would us it as an excuse for murder.

I think that the two idiot pastors in the USA should be criminally prosecuted for inciting to riot and gross negligence, in actus reus and mens rea, with the resulting deaths premeditated by their act.

What is the use? They would probably get off pleading diminished capacity (insanity).
They are definitively certifiable ...

Your response is longer than my "commentary." What does that say about how much you read into what I wrote?

So the muslim retards shouldn't be held responsible? You're seriously talking about charging men with a crime because they burned a silly book that some backwards third-world inbred fuckwits take way too seriously?

$5 submissions 04-04-2011 04:07 PM

Nothing. Christianity is probably the safest belief system/institution/creed to bash in this world and fear no consequences.

In a way, Christianity is a victim of its own success. The revolutionary idea behind "turn the other cheek" transformed the systems that internalized this belief system so much that they have become vulnerable to attacks from those that have nothing but contempt for its values.

Here's an awesome article on the modern politics of TOLERANCE and the collision between culture and religion: http://www.nationalreview.com/articl...jonah-goldberg

Jman 04-04-2011 04:07 PM

With that logic we should convict musicians that incite suicide, beating women, and killing cops. (like Tipper Gore, etc... tried to do)

Sorry, but even if I know that you are fanatically and obsessively protective of her, if I tell you your mother is a whore, I am NOT then liable if you kill me, or, for that matter, kill people thousands of miles away that I've never met because I called your mom a whore.

The person that does the killing is the one who is liable, not some dummy that burns a book, sings a song, draws a political cartoon, makes a movie, writes an article, or gives a speech. When you decide to kill another human being that is not a direct physical threat to yourself or another, then that is a choice that you yourself are totally, and solely liable for IMHO

I cannot disagree with you more about this.

You remind me of fatfoo more and more each time you post.

Anyway, I live in the south. Try to burn an American flag, a bible or talk shit on Dale Earnhart Sr. and you will get your ass kicked...or shot. Ignorant American Christians are just as fanatical as muslims.

Barry-xlovecam 04-04-2011 04:20 PM

They knew damn well the that they would cause other assholes to murder.
"Mission Accomplished" just like another prize asshole said from an aircraft carrier a few years ago.

OK well let's see Islam is 1400 years old. So what would have happened if in the 1400's you burned a bible in public? Um you'd be killed.

Really. Trying NOT being a Christian then try getting elected in many parts of the US.
