There's ways around it and it's good to get some tag surfing action.

That's for wordpress.com hosted sites. BUT... even if your site is on your own server, you may still be a target: http://www.ixdownload.com/news/wordp...protected.html

it sounds like they may have accessed the Akismet servers too, which most WP blogs use as its a default plugin

pamon 04-14-2011 05:52 PM

they host .com sites but only on their VIP hosting. Like techcrunch.com and gigaom.com along with cbs.com and others. Huge price for hosting and traffic requirements. Mainstream only of course.

sadiedazzle 04-14-2011 05:53 PM

Isn't this is just for wordpress sites that are hosted by wordpress? Don't most webmasters host their own blog?

That's how I read it too. And I reckon many people use the same akismet key for all their blogs.
Plus all those dot com users who have the same login details for facebook and twitter.
Could be more serious than they are letting on.

Please remind me to NEVER EVER consider you as a host, since you clearly don't know the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org.
