I love this kind of stuff. We never think about it, but we have military installations all around us. A few years back I was just surfing reading about this kind of stuff and discovered there was a nuclear missile from the 1960s less than a mile from my house. No one really knew about it.

Theres loads of stuff round here that i never knew about until the websites full of aeriel photos started up.

I found a decommissioned navy base near me, hidden in the hills, by looking on google maps. Although old timers would have known about it, or at least that there was something unusual there (a guy in uniform sitting in a guard house at the entry) the area was newly developed so it had a bunch of new residents in it, and the base itself wasn't visible from any roads. So only a small percentage of people knew it was there.

It's become more obvious it's there as development has pushed further towards it, but I got to go in there several times before all the vandals found it. :thumbsup
