When I am in Thailand I use a VPN anyway, I know DWB does to some extent as he has said as much on the forums. |
If the revenue coming from a country isn't worth the bother only a fool wouldn't.
Problem with so many is they're obsessed with the number of surfers to see that 10% ish of them are a total waste of time. Might even be a lot higher. |
Resources are so cheap they're nearly unlimited. I don't worry about "wasting" bandwidth. Now, if a country doesn't generate sales and a disproportionate number of hack attempts come from that country then I block them.
|
redirect them to brokers and made something (0.05~0.1 per k) if you have lots of traffic from there. 1mill = 50$/100$ :)
|
No we don't...
|
Why would you?
If anything - you could be clever and serve/sell region specific ads or content. |
Yes.... but not always, depends on the traffic volume and some Countries wont join a niche and some search terms wont pay for crap. If you can sell it off, great.. but sometimes it's just easier to block them so the spam bots, brute force attacks, hacks, credit card fraud, etc is completely gone from those regions rather than trying to filter out the good with the bad.
|
Most programs that block regions do it because they have models working there and need to make some effort at least to protect their anonymity.
|
From what I've seen it doesn't really work...
:D |
It depends. You would be INSANE to block those kind of geographies if youre sending on life time with free trials because sooner or later, those countries may become emerging markets, perhaps even Iran/Iraq.
What happens then is that their disposable incomes rise, they get CCs and suddenly start upgrading. Thats what ive recently found with a lot of Indian users, some of whom signed up years ago and are starting to buy subs. Ive also recently found this to be the case with certain GEOs on dating sites, especially AFF which is suddenly upgrading a lot of asian and in particular Indian, Malaysian and Thai users. Infact, not sure why youre blocking Thailand. |

The "I send them somewhere else" = "I can't bill them, doubt if the next guy can. But who cares I earn a few bucks." Shows the level of honesty of some. Assuming the next guy can not bill them either. Concentrate on selling to the markets we can sell to and not squeezing a few bucks out of those we can't sell to. |

I'm also looking for something to redirect a lot of these countries to. Vietnam, India, China, Indonesia.... if anyone would like to suggest a place to send them and would rather not post it here, please contact me privately (info in sig). I'd greatly appreciate it. :thumbsup |

On AFF, purely as an example, you should factor in a number of considerations: (1) On the % deal, you get a few cents income from male/female "low paying" signups regardless of whether they convert to paid. (2) The consensus is that the dollar is going to remain and become increasingly weak over the longer term whilst emerging market currencies are likely to appreciate, especially the asian currencies which of course reduces the purchase price for them. (3) In many asian economies, especially the largest like India and China, GDP per capita and personal & disposable incomes are rising as fast as access to payment methods and credit card use. (4) The larger the number of webmasters adopting the view, the larger the community base for those geos and therefore the larger the chance of upgrading them. In this way you can view your emerging market sign ups, on lifetime revshares as an investment that might help offset any downturn from western markets if the shit hits the fan. |
