It should be for that money. Guess if he gets #1 ranking, worth every cent.

It's not magic. There is a lot of data and tools available for this.

I would compare someone to tiger woods that's king of seo and not just an expert in keyword research. Keyword research isn't a soft science. The data doesn't get any more accurate than the data collected by the search engines. Tools like word tracker, wonder wheels, market samurai, keyword suggestions make that data available.

I think better analogy is that he is the guy that picks the clubs/balls/etc that tiger woods will play with... :winkwink::2 cents:

It's interesting how people think a top Ranking is based on a single domain.

It's far from the truth.
Most top ranking domain's are interlinked with a network of domains that are often run by the same site operator.

You just do not get a #1 ranking with a single domain.
The #1 domain this week probably will not be the #1 domain next week but one of the other domains that the Site Operator owns. All the mystique behind awesome SEO is a farce, the reality is you need many domains to get better rankings and having domains based on prime keywords helps. It's not an intelligent process if you just have the resource of many domains and top keyword domains that help immensely.

Not an expert here but people should know this as common knowledge. Domains are Real estate. The more you have the more SE traffic you get.

I've had a single domain rank #1 for its keyword for about a decade. Every now and then someone comes along and bumps me to #2, but a few months later the site that bumped me gets erases from Google and I float back to the top.

I don't have many domains - currently less than 40.

ThatOtherGuy - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-01-2011 02:54 PM

Must be a very good domain then Garce:)
Even around 40 is a pretty good battery of domains.
Do you use those to accompany the top ranking one?

I'm 500 an hour for non clients or 3000 as a daily rate. The only caveat is that I have to find the subject matter, client or overall experience interesting. Worth every penny! :)

its not just a phone call, also comes with a whole pile of shit.

the fact is, if you charge as ass load for something shitty (i.e. Mercedes Benz) people will think it has to be amazing and will buy it up.

personally, I'd charge a high ass rate if I was still in the SEO game. most stuff you can tell people on what to do can be discussed in an hour

icymelon 05-01-2011 09:22 PM

thats like double top attorney's hourly rate

reminds me of the stella artois 'reassuringly expensive' ad campaigns lol

I was recently chatting with Sausage on ICQ.

He was boasting he charges $500 an hour to do SEO.

How does a guy who failed at running his own sites, including a Tube site, get to charge $500 an hour?

I suspected he was bullshitting me. :1orglaugh
