are blogs still a good idea?

i find most dull and load very slow.

are they still worth doing these days?

do they get traffick and sales still?

redwhiteandblue 05-08-2011 03:38 AM

They are if you can spell.

HTH.

ez12 05-08-2011 03:50 AM

Most blogs look a like and have that standard WP lay out. Most of those blogs make zero to none revenue. So if you want to start a blog you need to be original in design, niche and content. Perhaps than you stand a fighting chance..

Just my 2cts

PS: redwhiteandblue is right, you need to be able to spell

How do you know this? I make blogs with a very plain simple layout and they make sales, I don't even update them that often. Granted I don't use WP though.

Is unprotected sex still a good idea? Not always, it depends who Vagina you stick it in. Same goes for blogs.

To answer your question it's VERY FUCKING HARD to get past month #2 on your members sub using a blog.. Best to stick with PPS and have your content King.

there are just soooooo many blogs.

99.999999% look rubbish.

even the ok ones load so slow.

in fact its worse with the popular blogs. i find it takes ages for a page to load.

AdPatron 05-08-2011 04:38 AM

It's pretty easy to get mainstream traffic to a porn blog. Use a non porn name for the site and talk about popular mainstream topics almost all the time. Lace your site with porn and you'll win.

is there anyway to do sex topic blogs like this without being seen as porn?

B.Barnato 05-08-2011 04:46 AM

there are so many amazing themes out there, so many different ways things can be implemented, be it site structure, use of plugins etc...

take a look at some mainstream wp site showcases and use them as inspiration, not some rss fed pos splog

AdPatron 05-08-2011 04:52 AM

The posts would have to be purely about mainstream topics. Example, I've been talking about Bin Laden on mine, as well as the iPhone tracking issue.

Do amazing themes make more sales? Not being argumentative, I'd genuinely like to know.

mikesinner 05-08-2011 04:52 AM

Just start pumping them out on free hosts. Then look at the ones that work and buy domains for these.

AdPatron 05-08-2011 04:55 AM

Focus on luring in mainstream, it's the future.

Amazing is not the word. A clever theme is much more effective. Most webmasters do not have a clue how to blog for adult. :2 cents:

I've discovered that it doesn't mind if you have a custom design or a free template. Surfers don't care too much about design, they care about content. It's us who care about design, not the surfers.

Surfers yes, bookmarkers no. Not really about the design though, but the ease of access to content/UI.

MediaGuy 05-08-2011 07:53 AM

Blogs are good; templates should be customized but as Rochard said content is what really matters.

I use really minimal designs and make them even lighter so the load is faster.

Also, you don't want to use too many scripts (ads, picture of the day etc.) because they can mess with pageloads.

.

by amazing I do not necessarily mean the design or look but above all the usability

If I have to click to see each image in full, if fonts are ugly and hard to read, if the navigation is complicated without a clear structure etc... then very likely the theme has missed the point and surfers are not going to hang around for long

I have plenty of shitty looking sites too that have great usability, putting the content at the forefront of what the surfer takes in...

instead of pagination try endless scroll, and work your pitch around that

Ginn 05-08-2011 10:44 AM

Yes, blogs still are good for me. But nowadays they are not as good as they used to be unfortunately.

toootooo 05-08-2011 10:47 AM

Blogs are powefull units, more powerfull than tubes.

Agent 488 05-08-2011 10:49 AM

if starting now don't bother.

zero to no revenue, why make them then?

most of the ones I make do a min of 1k revenue a month.

nevermind the prepaid ad spots who sell out constantly

redwhiteandblue 05-08-2011 11:11 AM

There are other reasons to build blogs besides making sales too.

Markul 05-08-2011 11:27 AM

I've found that most of my blogs that has the lowest bounce rate, are the ones installed with the old default theme. Go figure.
