I bought a jeep wrangler (pics)

Shit is fucking sick, I wish i did it years ago. I love trying to destroy that thing, but it overcomes all obstacles I throw at it. (after i installed the winch of course)

Anyone ever do this or own a wrangler? The wrangler forums are the polar opposite of GFY. If you post about having a problem, you have 50 replies in 10 minutes that are all helpful, local people even offering to come out and give you a hand installing a part. It has restored my message board faith after being on here for 8 years haha.

I have even started regularly getting the jeep wave, the customary wave all jeep owners do when they see another jeep. I really thought it was all b.s until i started driving around.

Anyways! some pics

You still have the Mini Cooper?

Spunky 05-11-2011 08:24 PM

Jeeps are a blast in the mud ,careful not to roll over though

TheSenator 05-11-2011 08:25 PM

It seems everybody is getting that modified package lately.

There are about 10 jeeps in my area that look exactly like that. They all go "woodsen" out in the woods.

i never understood it until i did it a few times, but it's a ton of fun. Believe it or not, so is getting stuck, the whole challenge of getting yourself out is fun also.

4 door Rubicon will be my next vehicle for sure. Just wish they would hurry up and either release a diesel or a V8 version. I test drove one before I bought my truck and the V6 is just a little too sluggish for a daily driver in the 4 door version.

J$tyle$ 05-11-2011 08:50 PM

Love it!

I've been living in San Diego for about 7 months now, and think I want to get one as a secondary summer vehicle. Not so much for the off roading (although that looks like a ton of fun) - more for the kids, dog, beach scenarios.

BVF 05-11-2011 09:05 PM

I had a Jeep Cherokee and loved it.....I would love to own another one.

My father had a 91 Cherokee when I was younger, I couldn't believe some of the shit he did with that thing, such champion vehicles. Once I watched him drive half way up a bluff with no problems.

CyberHustler 05-11-2011 09:09 PM

Nice.....

Yeah it's great for the beach and cruising around also. You can park anywhere, pop over curbs etc. Top down, doors off. Only issue is 0 security, can't leave anything valuable in it ever

potter 05-11-2011 09:19 PM

I've had two (YJ & a TJ) over the span of 10 years, next one will probably be a JK. My first was a 89 YJ - got it stock - over the span of 3-4 years it got 4.5'' lift, 31'' tires, winch, front tow points, rear bumper, and a bunch of other crap. Eventually sold that one and got a 99 TJ - within 6 months it had 7'' lift, 35'' tires, rocker armor, front rock bumper, and a slew of other things. I've only been driving for 12 years, and have had a Jeep almost that entire time.

V_RocKs 05-11-2011 09:24 PM

Well think of it this way, you don't have to worry about anything being stolen then. There's nothing in there they want to break a window for.

And I thought only the harley guys did the wave to other harley guys...

justinsain 05-11-2011 09:47 PM

I've been driving Jeeps since the mid 80s and currently have a Cherokee and an 1981 CJ 8 Scrambler. People are always wanting to buy the CJ 8 off me. I've had it for 17 years and plan on being buried in it :)

Fun when you got the gear to get out. A wench is great for that.

I got a Toyota Truck all beefed up and customized like that. 4 of the knarliest lights mounted on my bumper. Great for High beaming people that do it to you 1st.

My wench mounts to the front and also comes off and mounts to the toe hitch receiver in back. Used it a lot when i stuck in the snow after a blizzard.

My favorite was going up the mountain during a blizzard. Would throw on the biggest set of beefy snow chains on all 4 tires and go. The only cars allowed up and down during those situations where 4 wheeled tires with 4 chains.

Felt great flying up the hill at 30-40mph and sticking like glue to the white road.

I'm the second owner and unfortunately it has had to sit outside its entire life. Lots of rust but everything else is pretty nice. I have everything needed to make it just like it rolled off the show room floor. ( hard top, metal doors, side boards ) Someday I'll have some extra money to put into it and bring it back to its glory days. When it comes to driving Jeeps even the rust buckets are fun to drive :)

DaddyHalbucks 05-11-2011 10:23 PM

Great for off-road use.

Rochard 05-11-2011 10:25 PM

Oddly enough earlier tonight I sort of decided to sell my car and buy a jeep....

SomeCreep 05-11-2011 11:46 PM

BAKO 05-12-2011 12:13 AM

DWB 05-12-2011 03:55 AM

One of my best friends has two jeeps. Always climbing over rocks or through canyons. Cool stuff.

CurrentlySober 05-12-2011 03:56 AM

Looks like fun, but overkill for where I am...

idtapdat 05-12-2011 04:45 AM

buildingfutures 05-12-2011 04:49 AM

I love Wranglers, but the weather sucks here like 85% of the time so it's not worth it.

Chosen 05-12-2011 04:54 AM

Jealous! NO joke i was having a converstation the other day about trading in our jeep liberty for a wrangler.

Ravage 05-12-2011 07:43 AM

I've got a '97 Cherokee sitting underground right now. Needs some work as I put it through hell on the last offroad venture I went on. I previously had a '92 Cherokee which I sold off last year.

My current ride is a '01 Grand Cherokee Limited. I've been wanting to buy a Wrangler for a while now, but there's not alot of trails up and around the GTA so I haven't pulled the trigger on it as of yet.

Twoface31 05-12-2011 08:01 AM

You can get a lockbox installed in the center console...

one crowbar and 2 minutes later that shit is opened, I see the pictures on a lot of the forums. Not only are you out a lockbox, the interior of your car gets all fucked up as well.

pornguy 05-12-2011 08:45 AM

Used to have one almost exactly like that.. Every time we took the top off. It POURED rain. put it on, got hot as fuck..

Lace 05-12-2011 08:56 AM

Absolutely love it but thinking about trading it in for a new four door. Not enough room with the baby in this one. :1orglaugh

Ouch! :disgust

.

Lace 05-12-2011 09:06 AM

Btw, don't go mudding with your doors or windows off :1orglaugh

I'm STILL cleaning mud out months later. Just got out the power washer and began spraying the interior out last week.

See the fluid? Clogged my radiator full of mud so it overheated and sprayed coolant everywhere. Also, fried my alternator that night for a few minutes of fun. :winkwink:
