How the hell do I turn off google instant search?
 

I read that you can do it in the search settings but I can't find that anywhere now.

Click the gear shaped icon in the upper right corner of your browser (when on google.com).

click on the gear at top right, select search settings, then turn off google instant

Maybe it's only there if you aren't logged in.
