My ass hurts - any tips or remedies????

No gay sex, just riding my bike (bicycle) like crazy, trying to lose weight, and look awesomer (?)

I am on my week three and right now, I am doing about hour and a half per day Mon-Fri, riding really hard, but I should probably go back to the shop and get a different seat or order one like this one here

1. Get a hard slim seat (yes really) with minimal padding.
2. Get some decent pants, something like this:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=65643

Pants may look gay, just wear them under something. I don't know if that particular model is good, just one I grabbed quick, but you get the picture.

When I started riding XC and DH MTB it hurt like a motherfucker, but after a few weeks it will pass. But man, buying a pair of cycling shorts/pants was a lifesaver.

They look OK to me, but I don't get chafing, it's more of a deep (bone) pain, so unless they are padded, I don't see how they are going to solve my problem

Get some better seat with better suspension..
Home remedies : while sitting on chair, place your legs in parallel to ground.. That will increase the blood circulation around there.. you'll feel better.

thickcash_amo 05-23-2011 11:27 AM

use your legs more than you sit on the seat

michael.kickass 05-23-2011 11:34 AM

I've never seen a bike seat like that, are you sure that thing is comfortable?

grumpy 05-23-2011 11:51 AM

Juicy will have some good advice on that

Yea mate I know that pain very well and it will go away. I'm just saying that light padded pants and a semi-hard seat did it for me. But it takes a while, so just bite down the pain until then.

A friend of mine used a soft seat and he started dealing with other problems like the chaffing, eventually he switched to a harder seat.

Not saying rock hard, just not a big fat cushion :) look at the pro-riders and see what they use, they do it for a reason ;)

I get my ass hurt even when i walk a lot, not mentioning bike ride. You are trying too good to look better, you jsut need more money.

96ukssob 05-24-2011 08:28 AM

my ass hurts after riding a bike sometimes, but i prefer a slightly padded seat over something with very little padding
