Couple Forecloses On Bank

A Florida cop and his wife paid cash for a house. Bank of America foreclosed on it anyways, so the homeowners foreclosed on Bank of America :thumbsup

it was the bank's fault, it was a rogue attorney.

~Ray 06-06-2011 04:50 PM

good for them

alias 06-06-2011 04:51 PM

Sweet, decent lawyer too especially for only $2,534 in fees.

L-Pink 06-06-2011 04:58 PM

I would have loved to have been there.

rowan 06-06-2011 05:05 PM

That's an awesome outcome, definitely one to chuckle about now it's over, but I'm sure it was hell for the couple while it was happening.

How are the bank even able to initiate foreclosure proceedings on a property they have no legal interest in? There must be something else to the story, some complication, like the seller not properly paying out and discharging their mortgage...

The couple bought the house off the bank and it was never updated in their system as paid for. So, when no payments came in, it automated foreclosure proceedings.

so awesome...but also wow what a sign when the bank can just ignore someone and try to take their shit

Some people know how to handle their finances. Not everyone is involved in adult entertainment.

There really wasn't anything more - The people who owned the house before them had a mortgage with BOA, and BOA never got the info that they had sold. When BOA had no idea who this new family was, or that they were the legal owner.

The banks don't give a crap. You are a number to them.

Agent 488 06-06-2011 09:10 PM

cops have easy access to confiscated drugs - resell.

He was retired and there's no mention of what his wife used to do. It's not exactly a huge amount to have saved up although was probably just the cash from selling his previous house.

my friend who is a cop in Washington DC makes a base salary of 55k/year starting. However he racks in another 50-60k/year in overtime sitting in court. So like him knowing his expense is only his apartment and food which totals up to maybe? 1800/month on the good side. You can clearly see how he makes/saves money.

u-Bob 06-07-2011 05:17 AM

".... including cash in the drawers.." :)

fatfoo 06-07-2011 05:27 AM

That's amazing. It sounds like a rare thing to happen.

that makes sense, I too was wondering how a cop could pay cash for a house :)

The couple paid cash and never had a mortgage with BofA.

Anyway it was a good story right up until they let BofA out of the foreclosure when they produced a check at the very last minute. They should have taken the fucking property from them like they would have done to any homeowner that tried to present a check to the sheriff.

I know they didn't have a mortgage. BofA owned the house though. The couple bought the home off BofA and it wasn't updated that it was paid for in full. BofA's system triggered a foreclosure because there was a bug in their software. A former BofA's programmer was on Reddit last week telling how it happened.
