Chicago Getting Pounded By Severe Weather!

Dumbasses have NO idea what to do!

Winds 80-100 mph and tornado warnings.

came strong and went in about 5 minutes in my hood. i had no idea what to do so i just did nothing.

I remember being in Chicago in the River North area close to the Trump Hotel where we were staying and the tornado sirens started going off about 3-4 years ago. People had no clue what to do lol.

From a Kansan living in Tornado Alley, when shit like what you have just experienced happens, you should find a hole and crawl into it!

:)

Sorry, I should not call the people of Chicago "dumbasses". This kind of shit is so rare up there that they really do NOT know what to do other than watch the pretty lightning!

Listened to one of the newscasters there talking about the groundstrikes surrounding a "black cloud"............................

Uh, where we come from, that is a fucking tornado and it is time to hit the deck, batten down the hatches and get UNDERGROUND!

Even if it's not, we treat it like it is!

Aint called the windy city for nothin'

Sam - Mr. Skin 06-21-2011 07:40 PM

I'm from Indiana...was just being sarcastic. Most people are from the midwest and know what to do. The problem is not everyone has a place to go and tornados have very very rarely impacted Chicago proper so people aren't that worried about it.

The Weather Channel is reporting 70K people without power, so you are lucky.

EDIT:

Correction: TWC says now that 70K number could TRIPLE!

Missed this thread, the storm came so fast with almost no warning, (for me at least). We went from not even having a severe thunderstorm watch to hail, a tornado and sirens within 15-20 minutes.

I'm out in the NW burbs, my guess is we were hit with an EF0 or EF1. Downed trees, power lines and some broken windows. I'll see the extent of the damage in the morning.

Around 4:00 pm our time I went up on our roof to take a phone call and realized that our big screen had been demolished by the storm (along with half the deck it was attached to). We just finished making some temporary repairs...
