vegetables are for pussies, pets and kids

I guess i hate vegetables and hardly eat them unless they are in my hamburger. I have tried to include them in my meal before but couldn`t keep at it for long. Even so, I can`t get myself to eat them. Even if the taste is bad, I can force myself to eat just about anything, but the natural textures of a lot of produce just seems to gay for me.
I blame it on my folks that never forced me to eat my veggies. They tried, but I was grossed out by veggies and fruits even as a kid and they gave up the battle because I would bring up whatever they forced down right at the dinner table.
Are there any good substitute supplements that will give me all the nutritional benefits found in fruits and vegetables? I can drink V8 Fusion, but will that cut it? Also, do you have any suggestions?

are you fat? you can try a good multivitamin but there is no real replacement for nutrients straight from the source. there are a bunch of fruit and vegtable suppliments out there but no idea if they are any good or not.

yeah I was just curous. i'm not big on raw vegtables myself, besides brocolli but I try to eat some regardless. i also take a multivitamin daily but there is some debate on their effectiveness. i'm not fat either. :thumbsup

i love them with meat, eating just meat or just vegetables is not good, you need optimal complex every day

You beat me to it.

I would claim to not eat vegetables too if I didn't recognize that french fries are
a potato which is a vegetable.

Chips anyone? :1orglaugh

Ask your doctor what happens to your colon if you don't eat vegetables in natural form.

i cant afford vegetables... :(

PR_Glen 07-04-2011 01:45 PM

if you can't stand vegetables that means you aren't preparing them properly.. look up some good recipes and it will change your tastes forever.

the reason why a lot of people don't like seafood is for the same reason... they think fish sticks, smelly canned sardines and a nicely boiled and seasoned lobster is the same thing...

Maybe you just haven't tried them in a way you like them? Get a few vegetarian friends to take you out to some good restaurants and tell you what's good for people who are meat eaters :) Also, try Indian food. They have tons of great vegetarian dishes. You have to get over that mental block that veggies are a side, not a main. A good vegetarian dish can be your main, and your carb and a bit of meat can be a side dish. It's all in the perspective.

Good luck!

Most 13 year-olds hate vegetables.

Don't worry about the fruits and vegetables. The cancer you're going to get will take care of those concerns!

Spunky 07-04-2011 10:47 PM

Get over it and eat them, juices isn't going to replace them.other than onions, tomatoes or relish.there are no vegetables in hamburgers

I love a spinach salad with mixed peppers. Could eat it for every meal.

Have you tried smoothies? You can throw just about anything into them, blend it up with some ice and yogurt and get the nutrients you need in a flavorful drink.

They tend to taste pretty good too :winkwink:

Smoothies, vitamins and drinks are not a great subsitute for vegetables and fruit. If you want to be healthy you had better start incorporating both into your diet.

I was under the impression that if you use whole fruit/veg and blend them into the smoothie drink that you're still getting the relevant nutrients and benefits from the fruit/veg itself, since you're using all of the fruit/veg and not cooking it in any way.

Of course, I'm not a nutritionist, nor am I trained in any way as such. I base my knowledge on what I've read, and of course what I've read may have been misinformed.

So are you saying that by drinking smoothies consisting of fruits and vegetables each day, I'm not actually getting my '5 daily servings' I'm supposed to get each day, even if I'm using the equivalent amount of fruit and veg in the smoothie itself?

I wouldn't have thought the nutrients/benefits would degrade simply from being pureed.. ?

I'm not a nutritionist either and I am sure some people will argue that the nutrients derived from drinking your veggies or fruits are exactly the same as if from eating them in solid form. But I reject all those arguments even if they are technically correct no matter how much evidence they are supported by for a whole host of other reasons that I feel are important. You are free to disagree if you are hell bent on drinking your veggies and fruits no matter what, but in my opinion it's just not as healthy from a psychological or physiological viewpoint. Firstly, drinking liquid food is not the same as eating solid food. It doesn't exert the same pressure on your stomach walls, it doesn't satiate you in the same way and your brain doesn't react to it the same way. Essentially you are training your body to subsitute liquid food for solid and that to me is always bad. You also don't get the benefit of the fiber in solid food if you are drinking it. I just have a strong aversion to any of the shakes, smoothies, concoctions, bars or other ways that the diet industry sells you that provide a way around simply doing what you are supposed to and eating healthy solid foods including protein, carbs and fats from a variety of sources including fruits and vegetables.
