I need a merchant account and gateway for my Australian-based company...any recommendations?

Hey guys,
Im getting set to launch a new adult dating site in the next 6-8 weeks and I need to get set up with a merchant account and gateway.

I was initially doing things with SBW at first, but they said they would not be able place us at one of their banks unless we were based in the US. However, they did say that we could use them as our Gateway, but we would need to establish our own merchant account.

Can any of you recomment a company for Australian-based company that I can get a merchant account and gateway set up with?

Is Epoch or CCbill any good...or are there others I'm not aware of that I should be exploring?

Thanks!

I'd go with www.merchantbilling.com

We can help you with that. You will need to set up an EU corp, but it can be done quickly and inexpensively.

Unfortunately the VISA cross-border acquiring regulations will not allow a bank to process a merchant that is incorporated in another region. Quite frankly the EU corp would simply be a proxy set up a lawfirm. The banks all know this, and understand that it is needed in order to comply with VISA regs. All revenues would settle there, and then you would wire them to your Aussie accounts the same day. The only banks you can deal with having only an Australian company would be Australian banks.

There is one major merchant bank in Oz who is big into internet stuff. I don't recall the name right now, but if you ICQ me I'll look it up. Also see if ANZ will set you up.

Hey there Joey. I work with L3 Payments and SBW. It seems you have some misinformation and I will contact you on icq.
