While I can understand your outrage, you gotta understand that what these people want is media attention, and the cops carting somebody off just makes for better media attention. It sucks, but as long as they're following the law there isn't really anything you can do IMO.

My suggestion would be to follow the other successes in dealing with these scum, and start a facebook group asking for people to come and help make sure they are not seen, nor heard. There have been numerous groups that will go around and set up at the WBC protest location to chant and drown out their voices, along with other groups that make very large signs, or wear large angel wings, to make sure they're not seen.

They had planned to picket the funeral of the shooting victims here in Tucson after the Gabrielle Giffords assassination attempt. Though we had no direct interests in going to the funeral my buddies and I planned to go down there and see what we could do to shield the friends and family from these pricks. They finally backed out once a radio station honored their request for some air time.

What amazes me is that there have been no actions to stop these assholes. I understand the need for free speech but come on, there is no positive outcome to the bullshit they pull.

Many States/Cities/Counties have laws on what time they can protest a funeral and laws that require them to get permits first, which can be denied. Check your laws, then ask the police for assistance.

All States have Veteran groups and all Veteran groups know who these pricks are and all have had to deal with them. I would start with your local American Legion and straight up ask them for help.... if your Sister isn't involved with the AL, I recommend she becomes a member, they're an amazing support group with people that truly understand her needs.

For what it's worth they don't show up to about 90% of the funerals they say they're going to protest.

I just noticed the location of the church, and it's about an hour from where I live. If you do organize something, or need some help, I'll gladly drive down to lend a hand.

The problem is his mother has been doing a LOT of media. Flies to shit. If his family wasn't doing so much they probably wouldn't show up.

I talked to that biker group, Patriot Guard Riders and he said the same thing. The difference this time is the media attention the family has been getting. The biker group i called and 2 others are already planning on attending his wake/funeral to block the WBC people.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that. 3 different similar groups are going to be at both wakes and the funeral. The captain in PA gave me the asst captain's # mentioned in that article in case i needed to talk to him.
