King Bloomberg shutting down all public transportation beginning Saturday at noon - NOON - and bridges will be closed by 6 pm. Atlantic City shut down, no casinos open. All Broadway shows canceled Saturday and Sunday. Empire State Building and Statue Of Liberty Tours shut down. Mets cancel their games both days. Airports expecting cancellations starting at 3 pm Saturday through Monday. What will the Tourists do???

Whole neighborhoods being evacuated. People predicting the Hudson and East Rivers will merge downtown, below Canal Street, flooding out lower Manhattan and destroying property, consturction projects and the 9/11 Memorial.

Worst of all, Loews Movie Theater on W.84th St. can neither confirm nor deny if my 5:20 pm pre-purchased ticket for 'Planet Of The Apes' will be honored or not. My favorite 24 hour diner has also just shut its' doors and the crew is heading home to Long Island. WHERE WILL I GET MY MORNING BACON?

The hurricane is currently loosing strength ... :) ... Storm surge including additional rain accumulations on already soaked grounds is the current issue ...

I would be surprised if the Philadelphia / inland New Jersey areas will experience hurricane force winds ... Tropical storm gusts like Floyd would be more realistic ... :)

Yeah fuck it, they are stupid, look at all the people this storm has killed 24 hours before it got there, I think it's up in the 0's right now, idiots at the nfl.

I think they are way over hyping this storm and it will just get people to ignore them when a bad one actually comes along.

This will be a lot of rain and a bit of wind but I really don't think it will be any big doomsday thing with zombies taking over as the news will make it seem.

I've been through a lot of hurricanes and unless its a monster like Andrew or there is serious issues with potential flooding like there was in New Orleans it's really not that big of a deal.

Lotta rain & wind and power might go out a day or more..

The problem here friend is that, in NYC, it's hard to tell the pre-Hurricane Zombies from the potential post-Hurricane Zombies.

Can't say how much over hype the various news chans are doing BUT

This is one of the largest AND slowest hurricanes in many many years, wind speeds aside it's almost worse when the thing just hammers a spot for 12-14 hours then a quick wham bam fuck you mam high wind blowing system.

Also even though the thing has been downgraded to a cat 1, the SIZE of the eyewall is that of a cat 3, and when it hit land in NC they clocked sustained winds of 115-120 BUT they did not put it back to a cat 2 system.

All in all my fingers are crossed that all 'our' friends family co-workers etc are safe but I won't lie here, I LOVE watching the coverage and seeing these 'reporters' in the wind and rain telling ppl to "get out of here"
