Best New York Hotels

Any good suggestions for a good New York Hotel located in a safe area near good restaurants and shopping?

Waldorf Astoria. But it is very expensive, so I did not stay there.

Everyone should go here to see Steve Cohen, the millionaire's magician. He has a suite, and does a small magic show on Fri and Saturday night and has done for years. It's an AMAZING show, you have to dress smart, and he is trying to show you what a magic show would have been like 100 years ago. Elegant, smart, funny and cool. It's not very cheap, but it's a BRILLIANT night.

w times square was a great hotel

Marriott marquee times square is a shit hole and their restaurant "the view" is awful (horrible food)

Not too pricey, good location and Normas (inside the hotel) is the best breakfast in Manhattan. http://www.parkermeridien.com/index1.php :2 cents:

Was at the Park Central in August, can definitely recommend it as a decent place to crash for the price. Nothing fancy, but great location (56th and 7th), and the rooms are actually rooms, not closets (which is common in Manhattan).

Try Morgans hotel in midtown, stayed there last time and it was very decent. Small boutique hotel and close to everything
