Ok, so what's the secret to DNS in Moniker?

We've been trying to change DNS settings for a domain we host in our program for the better part of the day, using both chrome and firefox... and no matter how many times we change the DNS settings, they always revert back to the previous settings.

So what's the secret?

(I can't transfer the domain out because we don't own it :( )

Are you simply trying to set the nameservers? Or are you setting up A records as well?

If only nameservers, simply select the domain, click "Name Server: DNS", click on the domain in question (it should now be a link), click "Custom Name Servers", enter at least the Primary and Secondary, click "Save".

I imagine these are the steps you already took, if so I have no clue why it continues to revert back for you. I have been moving sites over the past few days and have changed DNS on at least 20 domains with no issues.

If you are trying to set your own A records there is a different process which I can explain if you wish.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup

Just trying to change name servers... I've done the process several times over the past 12 hours but so far, nothing... Contacted their support, they said they changed them to what I need, but when I go check the settings it's still showing moniker's name servers... sigh lol.

mine shows changes instantly but the TTL is 12-24 hours

It seriously takes that long for Moniker to propagate?

:( They stuck in 1995 or what?

st0ned 09-16-2011 10:58 AM

Mine generally take less than an hour to propagate. While moving sites last night I didn't wait longer than an hour to see the sites live on the new host and the whois reflected my new name servers.

Hit up Bari if you haven't already, she is always very helpful. Sounds as though you are having an isolated issue.

I don't think I'll be able to resolve it via email since we don't own the domain... have to deal with it via their support tickets.

Oh well, i'm sure we'll get it straightened out eventually.. thanks for trying to help either way.

No problem.

Are you sure that you are using valid name servers? If not, maybe that is why is continues to revert back to Moniker DNS.

Anyway I wish you luck in getting your issue sorted out.

:thumbsup

yep, definitely sure... I'm going to just boil it down to some weird bug in their system.. or something, who knows ><

This is most likely the problem I had this issue and found I was trying to add a name server that I was mispelling. Moniker checks to see if nameserver is active before it saves new setting if not it reverts back to previous setting.

When I do it, it works the first shot and propagates fast as hell.

Man, I was seriously hoping for some strange, off the wall jump up and down 3 times, click your heels together like dorothy twice and know on your knees 10 times...

Moniker makes me sad :(
