Several influential New York lawmakers have received threatening emails saying it is ?time to kill the wealthy? if they don?t renew the state?s tax surcharge on the millionaires, according to reports.

?It?s time to tax the millionaires!? reads the email, according to WTEN in Albany. ?If you don?t, I?m going to pay a visit with my carbine to one of those tech companies you are so proud of and shoot every spoiled Ivy League [expletive] I can find.?

IMHO there are wealthy people who's actions have helped society and there are also millionaires who have sucked blood from it.

Some people who haven't contributed financially to the system have contributed in other ways, others haven't. :2 cents:

The main problem is that in the past 15 years all the US jobs and factories were shipped off to China (by some of the wealthy).

I don't get it either. Taxing the people who kick ass in life simply because they are smarter and richer than others, is unfair.

Personally, I hope all the rich pack up and leave and ship their business' over seas. I'm sure there are plenty of countries who would welcome them and their business with open arms.

why do they keep talking about "millionaires."

talk about the banks who blew up the economy and who weren't punished, the lack of jobs, the foreclosures and the stranglehold mega-corporations have upon the government and media.

was reading an interview with the adbusters guys who started this and those were the issues.

also be aware that the media is distorting this to put it in the worst possible light as possible as they have to report on this as it gets too big to ignore.

the rich mostly got rich by outsmarting others, sometimes in a lying cheating fashion, sometimes in a completely tasteless manner sacrificing and ruining lives of many.
in a way this is life, on good or bad.
but when these rich are so mischievous and manipulative their reach go way into the executive arm of the government, the poor have no means to climb up, even for generations, then i can understand the poor mans thinking that desperate measures look appealing...

Millionaires (and Billionaires) are smarter, and by "smart" that doesn't have to mean their IQ. That could be their level of education, financial knowledge, and knowing what to do with their money and assets so they keep them. The rich generally know how to keep their money. The poor do not. And if you are poor and suddenly become rich, there is a good chance you will be poor again, because you lack the knowledge to know what to do with your money and assets.

Not a lot of people are just lucky enough to be born with that kind of money in their account or are trust fund babies. Everyone else has to work for it.


Sure, some people just have bad luck, but generally speaking, poor people are usually poor for a reason.

Bad decision after bad decision, a poor understanding of financial knowledge, and no idea how to make their money work for them. Usually will keep you poor or treading water.

You try to prevent yourself from ending up in the soup line by educating yourself, protecting your assets, understanding taxes, and understanding how the entire system/game works. People who understand all of this always end up making money again regardless of how many times they fall on their face.

But shit happens and you can't plan for everything, you can only plan for as much as you can and hope you don't have a stroke in the process, leaving you disabled and drooling on yourself. But even then, if you made all the right moves, you'd still be OK. It's learning what moves to make that separates a lot of the rich from the poor.

this isn't about "millionaires." that is just a media created red herring.
