Almost 5 posts in and nobody has posted a timeline pic. I am disappointed.

Shit, that was nothing. I got whipped WAY worse than that. Plenty of times. But admittedly, by the time I was 12 I just took it and did what I wanted.

Hitting a 16 year old girl with a belt wouldn't be my method of punishment. I'd take away her cell phone, computer, TV, everything for two weeks. Just to get the point across. Whipping girls that age is usually counter productive, they just make a big drama about their 'mean parents'.

All that drama, if she had done what he said she would have got ten half the licks and it would have been over with.

This is a non-drama.

Unfortunately, this kind of abuse cloaked as discipline is all too common.

I was beaten much worse on a regular basis as a kid for the slightest perceived infraction, and I was by no means a bad kid. The mental torture is nearly as bad as the physical pain.

One time, I remember having to miss Junior High school for a week because my face was so bruised (everyone thought my jaw was broken - I still have scar tissue in my mouth from that beating; I was trying to stop my Dad from beating my Mom - my Sister left home at 16, I left home at 17, and my parents divorced a few years later).

The strangest part is that a child can still love a parent that abuses them, while the abuser often feels justified in their behavior, or like the Judge, rationalizes their actions by claiming that it looked worse than it was. Of course, the same person would never find such a beating directed towards themselves so easily justified.

Fortunately, the cycle of abuse does not need to be repeated. Education, awareness, communication, and helpful action, are all useful in creating a more loving society.

what i found more disturbing than the video itself was his daughters response to all of the attention on the news last night. she said she regrets making this public and wished she hadn't done it because of the repercussions (her father is dealing with) :Oh crap

After digging into the facts more, I've decided that she got what she deserved!

She released the tape after her father harassed her. Yeah, he probably caught her
