Interesting . . . . if I search with Chrome, I get the https, but with Firefox I get http. I had goodgirl try and she got http with Chrome.

The bottom box seems to be dependent on your accounts settings. Some of my accounts have a box, some do not. Which setting exactly that is, I'm not sure, but check your options and also your Google Chrome options.

Google announced a long time ago that they were moving to https secure searches for anyone logged into google... Has the SEO industry up in arms about it since it means you can't get referer info for those searches.

yep, same reason they made the search numbers huge when the average user doesn't give a fuck. It's because it pushes organic results down and out of the page leaving almost only ads above the fold.
