House just got robbed today, caught thief in the act

been here almost a year in the DR. don't flash any money, rarely wear clothes, speak good enough spanish to blend in... yet i live in a big gated villa on top of a mountain. 10ft high spiked fence, 4 dogs... etc

had an afternoon girl over, a regular not a stray... we leave, then she realizes she left some of her clothes at the house. we come back up the hill 15min later and i walk in on a burglar. i had just took some shots of this new girl so my canon T3i and lenses were on the dresser. i notice its gone, and my bathroom door is shut. i rush the door and dude jumps on my toilet, breaks it, and jumps out the bathroom window (2nd floor). amazingly dogs didnt do shit, neighbors didnt see shit... at least the girl was good. only in DR

Wicked 1 11-16-2011 08:14 PM

Did she ring anyone shortly before you left to announce she was on her way or leaving your house ?.

Sounds suspect to me.

Evil Chris 11-16-2011 08:15 PM

Glad to hear you're all right Shimmy

Could have been a more sinister plan, hard to say when you are judging the actions of street level criminals. :2 cents:

Shimmy, watch your bLack.

papill0n 11-16-2011 08:25 PM

how do you have a burglar with a 10ft spiked fence and dogs ?

VikingMan 11-16-2011 08:54 PM

The problem with DR is it is full of people who are from DR. Glad you are ok.

marlboroack 11-16-2011 08:57 PM

Interview the girl and upload it here. This i need to see, if i don't see it i think it's bullshit.

Spunky 11-16-2011 09:13 PM

Sounds like a inside job for sure..somebody knows your schedule

Adult Insider Dave 11-16-2011 11:42 PM

Wow scary story. See his face? In gated communities down there it's often an inside type job where someone knows something about you. Perhaps the guy just heard you did photo shoots or something and wanted some free pics, if that's all they took.

Tofu 11-17-2011 12:52 AM

That sucks. At least you weren't robbed at gunpoint. I am with the others when they talk of set-up, though. Some of these girls are so damn scandalous!

TrainWreckContent 11-17-2011 12:55 AM

damn that is fucked up i recently had my house broken into while my wife and son were home sleeping

Yeah it sucks when a hard working guy gets ripped off, right?

MKA 11-17-2011 05:14 AM

We need some pics from the girl.

JFK 11-17-2011 05:22 AM

sorry to hear about your loss, the camera and lenses all have serial #'s might be able to find it ?:2 cents:

pornguy 11-17-2011 05:24 AM

Need to work with those dogs some.. What kind do you have??

J. Falcon 11-17-2011 05:33 AM

So you didn't catch him then, your thread title is misleading.

shimmy2 11-17-2011 06:48 AM

ironically or not, i removed my memory card from the camera to go and print some pics at a little photo kiosk down the hill (as my house was being broken into) and i notice today the thief looks strikingly similar to the stray girl that i filmed on monday. same complexion and whatnot at least. it definitely was an inside job somebody had to be watching me as i left with my regular girl and i'm pretty sure it was not her as why would she send me back to the house 10mins into a robbery with another dude with me... had to be either the one-time stray chick or an isolated incident. i'm leaning on the stray chicks bf/brother/chulo as he wasn't a 'professional' robber, wore a white tshirt, designer jeans, lean weak build etc. these were the last few pics taken with the Canon about 20 minutes before it got stolen... with the long haired chick one of my regulars i've been with for about a year. the second girl is the new stray model... you guys tell me whatcha think:

nope she didn't call anyone, girls here rarely have minutes on their phones (incoming calls are free) my theory is somebody had hopped the 10ft wall or pressed flush against it and watched me leave. could have been a lookout or a team of 2-3 who knows. amazing that 4 dogs didn't see or hear shit yet. i considered security cams but theyd probably steal the fuckin cams

yeah he looks like a dominican monkey.... donkey kong on crack, pick one. funny thing about the DR is armed guards are EVERYWHERE. everywhere is barred in, yet they still manage to steal. i've never been stolen from by a girl other than petty bathroom toiletries as i dont have much of value here other than a camera and a really shitty computer. no laptop/ipad/droidphone/jewelry/watches... nothing portable. its a 3rd world country for christ sakes. i dont even have a tv in this big ass house so they were probably shocked or thought someone beat them to the job. :upsidedow then the cops come after i fetched them 20 minutes later... 14 PNs wearing flack jackets with ARs... doing that tv cop shit... kicking my doors in and shit. it was a real entertaining night

John-ACWM 11-17-2011 07:11 AM

Nice girl, house and view, too bad that happened and the dogs didn't do anything.

yeah in pawn shop in santo domingo... or more likely some local wedding photographer or whatnot bought it from the crackhead for $100 with no charger or accessories. i'll be on the lookout on the local classifieds and craigslists type of boards

SwirlsGirl 11-17-2011 08:30 AM

glad you are okay, one can only imagine other ways that could have played out...might be time to consider getting a pit bull

WarChild 11-17-2011 08:41 AM

Most people assume their dogs will protect their home. The real truth is, the vast majority will not. They may well bark and make a fuss, but as far as actually attacking an intruder it's more likely than not that they won't do anything.

A bunch of people are almost assuredly going to jump in after me and say that they're positive their dog will and blah blah blah, but any professional will tell you that unless a dog is specifically trained to protect property, it most likely won't. The vast majority of dogs aren't suitable to be trained to do it either.

It's worth noting that it's a different response than protecting a person, dogs will be a lot more likely to step up to defend what they consider to be their pack, but unless you threaten them specifically property won't rank anywhere near as high of priority for them. That's just the simple truth.

i agree. dogs dont place any value at all on a camera.

i wonder if it had been at night though...if it is a different story.

some dogs are more territorial, so coming onto their turf at night is a no no

I've known a few police officers and fire brigade members that have told me several times that you often find those that lit the fires in the crowd that assembles at the scene.

And police say the criminals often pose as friends and victims to cover thier true intent.

It's not out of character at all.

Why did Christopher Mallick return to GFY to assure everyone the funds were in motion ?.

It's gives them a chance to put some safe distance between you and them which can be the perfect getaway plan.

Worked a charm for Chris didn't it ?.

who breaks into a home with a gun? especially in a 3rd world country? Can probably buy a home for the price of an ak out there... Not as nice as Shimmy's i'm sure ;)

yeah very true here.. but more often than not a good scary sounding bark will deter most people, unless they know dogs well anyway.

Glad you are OK. Nice Looking girls. If you ever find them with Big Tits ring me up. The info is in the SIG.

handguns are not my thing. but they are stupid expensive here, around $100k pesos ($3000usd) to obtain legally. and if you're a foreigner that is the only way to go. all the locals are strapped and they are not required to have papers or anything official. if you have guns they will steal those first before anything

well they are definitely in the neighborhood or have been casing the neighborhood. one of the downfalls of living in an isolated area in a fortress is people assume you have good shit, and lots of it to steal. homes with safes and whatnot. they were probably shocked to see a nearly empty house with no tv and a shitty computer. could be neighborhood handyman type of thing, the lawn cutter, etc. for the reason of breakins alone i stopped having maidservice once i moved to this new house cause i heard the maids often steal ur shit. eh well

iSpyCams 11-17-2011 10:22 AM

Just got back from 12 years in the DR.

Those locals are required to have papers too, they just don't. Dominicans don't ever leave the house empty, there is always somebody there. Cause they know thieves will be in there the minute they see you leave.

Why were there not bars on the bathroom window?

iSpyCams 11-17-2011 10:32 AM

Just saw your post on the DR board, be careful in that town, bad shit happens there all the time.

And that DR board is filled with some of the most idiotic people who ever owned a computer. I advise you to change your username on there so its not similar to this one, because those fools do not need to know what you do for a living. They are idiots and some are idiots of the dangerous sort.

I have hardly ever gotten a useful reply to a post there, unless I researched offline and wrote it myself.

If something bad happens to you because you shoot content in the DR you wont be the first or the last. The only people I know who were successful with that were patient enough to leave the country before publishing anything.
