Hey do you put your desk in your living room or your bedroom?

and what kind of desk do you have? I just got a new apartment and am thinking of putting my desk in the living room, because im tired of having a crowded bedroom.

Whan odd idea...

I've got an old Ikea Jerker desk. The thing's massive, it pretty well needs its own room.

Don't put it in the bedroom if you want to ne able to sleep (or screw) without thinking about work. Separate the work area from the bedroom and preferably from the "off work" areas so you can "go to work" and focus on work at work, personal life during personal time in the personal space.

If I had to choose between living and bedroom. I would go with living room. You don't want to have your workspace in your bedroom where you sleep, rest.

And obviously as mentioned optimally a second office room or office space is even better.

I used to have an entire studio office setup in the "sunroom" of the house, then my oldest took that room as her room, and the youngest took her old room.

I got shoved into a corner of the master bedroom and I LOATHED IT lol, over half my office went into storage.

A few weeks ago I redid and took over the foyer, and looking at it now I should have used this room as my studio office from the start!

As for my setup, the desk is nothing special, about feet long with a top portion that I've removed, my dual monitor setup for my new tower is to the right of the desk, my main laptop on the left.

on the right side of the desk I have a media shelf where two more laptops sit (and a tiny dragon touch lamp)

in front of the desk against the back deck wall I have a 32 inch TV and stand, with my DVR box and XBox(for netflix mainly lol)

And on the other side of the room my big comfy couch.

If you have kids, use a room with a door.

Bladewire 11-20-2011 06:41 PM

Don't have your desk in the bedroom or living room!

I've always had my office in the bathroom. For 8 years I had the setup below

I just moved a couple years ago and upgraded

do not bring work to your bedroom. It's for sleep and sex only

Bedroom :pimp

CYF 11-20-2011 07:31 PM

out of the two choices, I'd definitely pick the living room.

fuzebox 11-20-2011 07:35 PM

When I was single in a one bedroom apartment, I had my desk in the dining area off the kitchen.
