SmokeyTheBear 11-28-2011 02:14 PM

BIGTYMER 11-28-2011 02:17 PM

Fuck .xxx!

DotXXX 11-28-2011 03:04 PM

They are part of the Founders program that was set in place for early adopters. General Availability begins on December 6th, so I expect that you'll be seeing many more then.

Solace 11-28-2011 03:37 PM

It's censorship is what it is.

raymor 11-28-2011 03:40 PM

Buying .xxx = supporting scumbags

what i don't get is how exactly did they get their domains ?

Basically , right now nobody can buy a .xxx domain and have it work correct ?

any "working" .xxx domain name right now must be part of the founders program correct ??

when did the "founders" program start ? where was the signup ?

i notice "gay.xxx" was sold for 500k , how exactly did that take place when you can't even buy them yet ? the criteria for being in the founders program doesn't seem to include buying premium domains for resale ? infact the criteria seems very vague ?

Many of the current working .xxx's seem to be "dummy" sites that simply forward to a .com or piggyback on a .com . Doesn't this simply bypass the touted benefits of security ?

femdomdestiny 11-28-2011 05:10 PM

ignore idiots. I hope they invested some money and that will loose everything. Shameless bastards.

First people preregistered .xxx domains. ICM then used that data to find out what domains might possibly be considered to be valuable. Instead of selling those domains to the people who preregistered, ICM then kept those 'valuable' domains for themselves and started putting them up for for auction.

Domains that currently resolve are part of the Founders Program, which I believe began in 2010. Part of the criteria for Founders, was that resale was prohibited, and insisted on development within a specific timeframe under the terms of the Founders contract.

There is no rule against forwarding .xxx sites to dotwhatever sites. All .xxx sites are automatically labeled by Metacert, so anyone using parental control tools would not see the site, nor would they see the redirect. McAfee is optional for .xxx webmasters, but is only available to use for .xxx sites.

for Landrush? I'd say "possibly" true. But those are closed auctions, only between the parties that applied for the name. You can see if your chosen names show as available via buy.xxx - and pre-order from a registrar. Worst case, you don't get the names.

Could you then please explain to me how ICM selected the domains that were put up for (public) auction?

No need to google. Your question wasn't immediately clear, so thanks for the clarification.

There are a certain number of 'premium' (and often single word) domains reserved by ICM Registry. Some of those have gone to public auction. I don't believe that any of those are Founders.

so ICM took some of the best domains and auctioned them off for their own profit????

Based on what criteria did ICM Registry decide if a domains was 'a premium domain'?

u-Bob 11-28-2011 07:21 PM

Can you please post a list of those "premium domains"?

Chris 11-28-2011 07:23 PM

wish i owned a tld and took the best for me and gave them to domain brokers with a ton of pull in the domain biz to sell for me

You might have risked the premium during Landrush, but if you didn't win the domain in private auction, the domain name cost itself is refundable.. Now you can pre-order for General Availability - it's just the cost of the domain ($80-100) - which is refundable if you don't get it.

It's far from unusual for a new TLD to hold common word domains in reserve. ICM Registry has held far fewer than most, and ideally, every one of those premium names will be developed. There's no harm in talking to us if you have great ideas for a great name.

So the cost of the domain ($80-$100) was refundable, but the other part (how much???) wasn't refundable, right?

Konda 11-28-2011 07:36 PM

I really hope people see what a scam this is. Still 1000s are stupid enough to register .xxx , just in case it would take of.

This is a total SCAM, just see everything post in this thread.

These are the type of guys that would pull things like .tv where you suddenly have to pay premium fee a year to keep good domains, or they will take away your domain, because they don't like your content, etc.

I can't believe so many people are not seeing what's going on here.

Yes. About the same (it varied from registrar to registrar), and no.

Anyone is a member of the adult Sponsored Community if they buy a .xxx domain

I wish .xxx would die already, no one wants the useless piece of shit, what more is it going to take for you to fuck off and go spend the money you have already defrauded out of a legitimate industry?

DWB 11-29-2011 01:56 AM

After looking at a few .XXX sites currently online, some with NO warning page at all and directly exposing children to hardcore porn as soon as you type in the name, can you please tell me how this is helping to protect the children?

And given this, what is the purpose of IFFOR and the whores working there if they can't even keep some of the only .XXX sites currently online from exposing porn to children?

That was only fluff to get it approved. They could give two shits about kids. It's about money, nothing more, nothing less.
