What's your opinion on blogs on sub domains?

What the topic says. What is your opinion? Is it worth doing?

subdomains are like assholes.

CYF 12-02-2011 05:08 PM

blogs on subdomains is fine.

AdultKing 12-02-2011 05:11 PM

Do a Google search, search for any good keyword short or long tail. Tell me how many subdomains get returned on page one, then ask the question again.

We have quite a few of them on our paysites domains. It has really increased our SE traffic.

19teenporn 12-02-2011 05:17 PM

They are good, help a lot...

chaze 12-02-2011 05:20 PM

I don't like sub domains in general so I would not good. Your better just getting another domain or have on the main site in a folder.

Lace 12-02-2011 05:24 PM

I wouldn't. Although some say google looks at them as another site, I'd rather just buy domains. :2 cents:

Asked the same question over at the "question" forum just today and there were no answers. I guess this is the question forum..

My results came out with my subdomains mixed in with my main URL results in google. Maybe I missed a trick but google clearly didn't look at my subs as a seperate site.

Diomed 12-02-2011 06:45 PM

People should have blogs as their welcome page.. enter/exit.

ArsewithClass 12-02-2011 08:14 PM

One of our blogs, is a sub domain to one of our main sites, it's ok. It has enough traffic & gets picked up by google. Personally you may aswell use a domain unless the blog is for the domain it's going to be sub domain on :thumbsup

MyDogHasFleas 12-02-2011 08:24 PM

Thanks for the feedback. I see people doing this when looking for trades. I've always wondered, but never enough to try.

Jarmusch 12-02-2011 08:27 PM

They are the poor man's blogs.

Here's the top 4 four for 'sports'

Espn.go.com
Sports.yahoo.com
Sportsillustrated.cnn.com
msn.foxsports.com

anexsia 12-02-2011 08:35 PM

I put up 4 subdomain blogs 3 months ago and they each get around 60-70 visitors from Google per day, have also made some sales from them.

The answer would be zero.

V_RocKs 12-03-2011 04:25 AM

It only works if your site is established on the main domain and uses the subdomain as a blog.

So this:

littleapril.domain.com
tammyteen.domain.com

doesn't work so much...

However, this does:

blog.tammyteen.com

I guess Google has an algorithm for that...
