So how much better will games get?

BF3 is almost photorealistic. How much better can games get? What are your predictions, geeks?

Better physics and better AI, more interaction with the environments in games.

Adult Insider Dave 12-20-2011 04:17 PM

I would assume they will become more virtual with 360 views etc like we've all seen in the movies over the years. That shit will be cool ;)

Not sure what you mean with that.

Here is the next iteration of the unreal engine. Should see stuff like this on the next round of consoles in 2013.

Yes indeed. Bf3 already does a good job with the environment thing. Hiding behind a stone wall will only last that long...
Btw i'm amazed how well it runs on my pretty old computer by now. I can almost play with full settings. You'd expect a game like that to need more resources.

It really is interesting because they only have so much space to work with, even on a dual-layer bluray, they have like what 50GB max? More and more games have so much video content as well.. LA Noire was 3 discs for xbox 360 and it was beatable in like 12 hours maybe?

I vote for new a new uber-medium and just keep up with the story-line games.

I watched that demo yesterday. Looks awesome!

I still play Unreal 1 btw (1999). Awesome game!

On the pc that shouldn't be a problem right?

StickyGreen 12-20-2011 04:50 PM

Sports games still have a lot of room for improvement. The gameplay on some of them is terrible still...

My guess is that everything will eventually go to digital distribution like it already is on the PC.

Joxxy 12-20-2011 07:02 PM

Games are getting slightly better. Way too many cut scenes in games.

waltgator 12-20-2011 07:38 PM

is it lame that i still like the old NES & sega games? but these new games are sweet too!

marlboroack 12-20-2011 07:46 PM

Can't wait to see Halo 10 years from now.

RonTheDon 12-20-2011 08:24 PM

If you use Google Chrome, head over to the Chrome App Store and download a few games. They are all in-browser, mostly taking advantage of HTML5.

It's also a pretty clear indication as to where software and operating systems are headed.

BladeZ 12-21-2011 01:35 AM

More interaction,Bringing in your own personality in game characters. So the character will act and respond on your personality.

campimp 12-21-2011 01:41 AM

will progress until it reaches virtual reality

BladeZ 12-21-2011 02:10 AM

I think the market eventually will decide,It all must be payable by consumers. What is the use of spending lots of money in developing, when almost nobody can buy.Its the masses that bring in the cash, not only a selected few.

Nicky 12-21-2011 04:26 AM

I want WoW to look like in the trailer all the time.

DamianJ 12-21-2011 05:40 AM

I think the future of games is casual games.

nico-t 12-21-2011 05:44 AM

playing games is a waste of time.

Games will get waaay better. Look at 15 years ago. Super nintendo came out and we were all "whoooaaa mario kart graphics are fucking nuts!!!"

And now? It looks like pixelated crap.

BF3 is not close to photorealistic. I think they can get better by quite a bit. The pinnacle would be Avatar(movie) quality.
